Topic: Remastered Terminator Heads to the U.S.

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release director James Cameron's classic action film The Terminator (1984), starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn. Recently remastered, the film will be available for purchase on February 19th.

Just watched this tonight and all along during the watching of the movie, I was asking myself. Is this a BD version? So grainny, washed out scenes during night time. Ok during daytime. Poor black rendition. James Cameron as the director.  Approved by him? My gosh after Avatar... why did he approve such a BD release.

Oh, so there's no upgrade over the previous release? I was expecting better PQ.  So the double dip is not advisable.

I'm guessing what Macmon watched was the old release, since his post was dated December 12, 2012. The remastered release will be available in the US on February 19, 2013.

Here's a review of the UK remastered release, which states that the picture quality "looks mighty impressive" & that "detail and especially depth are outstanding":

Good thing I was hesitant ordering the old release. Definitely getting this remastered version in the near future.

I already have the Best Buy Terminator Anthology Set, but I'm still planning to get the remastered release. I'll just replace the old release in the set with the remastered one.
