Parenthood's Jason Ritter to Star in Fox Comedy Friends & Family
BY KIMBERLY ROOTS

Forget the Bravermans: Parenthood‘s Jason Ritter is becoming part of Fox’s Friends & Family.
The actor has signed on to star in the network’s American adaptation of the British comedy Gavin & Stacey, TVLine has learned.

Ritter will play Gavin, a neurotic and smart good guy who’s excited about his first real date with Stacey, a co-worker from rural Pennsylvania he’s become friends with through Skype and Facebook.

The single-camera project is written by David Rosen (I Just Want My Pants Back), with Jane Tranter, Julie Gardner, Henry Normal and Gavin & Stacey creators James Corden and Ruth Jones also serving as EPs.

In addition to playing Mark, jilted fiancé to Parenthood‘s Sarah, Ritter has had roles on The Event, The Class and Joan of Arcadia.

I hope they do this right, Gavin & Stacey was excellent.

Ah, the inevitable remake. Hopefully, the involvement of Corden and Jones will make a difference.

Then again, American TV networks has always remade UK telly staples to great effect - from Till Death Do Us Part, Steptoe & Son and Man About The House hopping the pond, becoming All In The Family, Sanford & Son and Three's Company, respectively, in the process.

Then again, there's Coupling.....

I honestly think they pulled Coupling off the air too soon. Having seen the unaired episodes of the US version, the original episodes they had written were far better than the episodes they aired, which were inferior remakes of the UK season one episodes. Kind of like The Office's terrible first American season.

Coupling had a US remake? I guess it was pulled off the air too soon for me to find out.

...and after looking it up, it was before I started torrenting my shows.

They've found Stacey, and it's funny due to Jason Ritter's former love interest on Parenthood:
