derided Kris Aquino for her statement re her son's movie?
i saw the movie in question and it was one film worth forgetting...
but that is not the point, the point was there were more viewers
and that whas what i think Kris meant to impart,
Andrew has no way to confirm and being a gentleman that he was
took it all in stride....

do we really have to put ourselves below foreigners?
do we really need to play inferior/second class in our own country?
i wonder.......

I don't think it was colonial mentality sir.  Sakin it was a question of proper decorum.  It was not the right forum to bring it up.  What she was trying to do was more of one-upmanship.  And it was totally out of line.  Siguro if this was an interview for her magazine or TV show pwede pa.  But this was arranged by the studio who made the movie.  Not by ABS CBN.

You do realize this is KRIS AQUINO we're talking about, huh? She's supposed to interview Andrew Garfield to promote the Spider-Man movie as part of a junket. For her to brag that her son's movie outgrossed the first one in the Philippines is kind of tactless and, frankly, bastos (never mind that her son's movie is apparently a miserable excuse of a movie). She's lucky Andrew took it astride. What's the purpose of her saying that? To impress Andrew? What?

the thing that bothers me, is that are we really inferior to Americans?
can they be condescending towards us and we are not allowed to reciprocate?

Obviously, the answer to your first question is no.

As far as your second question is concerned, I personally don't get the reciprocating behavior you were suggesting. It would reflect insecurity and an inferiority complex. The best way to show anyone that you're better than them is to actually be better than them. As Matthew 5:39 tells us, "If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also." With all the flak Kris Aquino is getting, I wouldn't be surprised if we see her shedding crocodile tears again on national TV (playing the victim card again) beside Boy Abunda, and, not surprisingly, that show's ratings will spike as over half the country will be listening to every word she says.

Well, if they wanted Columbia wanted to publicize AS2, they got their money's worth by getting Kris. her trainwreck style generated more attention than a normal interview. from Jimmy Fallon's interview with Emma Stone, she is exactly the type of sassy and modern woman that would reduce Kris to tears if she wanted to.

After watching the interview,
