Hey guys I just need your inputs on buying a Samsung tv. I was originally planning to buy a sony W900 but I don't think they'll ever release a 40-42" version here so I looked at their next best tv w/c is W804 but has muted colors and only has passive 3d accdg to this cnet review http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-tvs/sony-kdl-47w802a/4505-6482_7-35661317.html So now Im planning to buy the 40" F6400 3D tv but im having second thoughts after reading posts here of samsung tv problems. This is my first time getting a samsung currently we have a 40ex710 sony and a 32le5500 lg and so far so good. I don't see samsung service centers all I see are sony service centers. How is their service? I don't want to pay for expensive parts if ever the samsung tv gets broken after the warranty. Do their tv last very long before showing signs of problems? I want my tv to last for at least 5-6 years. Hope you can help me Thanks.
I'd like to share to you my experience with Samsung and Western's service.
I bought the last PS51E550 last April 27 in Western Pasay Rd. The last unit happened to be the display unit. I had my qualms about purchasing since it was a display. The sales people were even ganging up on me saying that the display unit isn't that old and that they just recently put it up there. Of course, in my head, I wasn't going to believe all that bullcrap. Garbage in Garbage out in other words.
I based my decision in purchasing the unit on the promised warranty which included a replacement of the unit in case of problems. So I bought the tv, brought it home and waited the following week for the Samsung people to install it on its wall mount. After installing, we removed the top right corner "+1" sticker (you see this in all their displays) and immediately saw an outline of where the sticker used to be. The technicians immediately guessed "screen burn." After doing the picture test, they confirmed that it was indeed screen burn. The heat from the plasma tv was trapped in by that stupid "+1" sticker. They recommended an immediate replacement since the unit was supposedly "brand new." They even said that Western probably gave me the "display unit." ;p
So they made the report, they told me I could use the TV first until the replacement arrived. Guess what? My new PS51E550 arrived just last week! This time, its not the display unit.
I'm grateful to Samsung for allowing the replacement and to Western for delivering the unit to my place free of charge! Now all I have to do is call Samsung back so they can mount it on my wall.
Hope this helps!
