That sir is a good question. Since i was limited to mostly to current gen game consoles when i was looking online, didnt bother to check for native 4k games for pc.

Any upscaling really causes input lag. Nothing new. :)

Prices are a lot cheaper than posted above for some of the niche brands in the Philippines. I'll try to move some photos from my phone so you guys can see it here.

try to check kung saan gawa mga panels ng may mga input lag na 4KTV (Samsung or LG) usually made in outside Korea (Mexico, etc)  according to LG/Samsung, only their bigger size high end panels are made in Korea - 78" 4KTV and above to ensure panels quality are within their specs - didn't experienced input lag on LG's 79" UB980T - played with it for almost 3 weeks xbox 360/ps4/pc - 3 different units, eto yung time na puro may backlight bleed/flashlight effects ang nakukuha kong units and decided to exchanged it for Samsung 78" Curved (HU9000), on my 78" Curved, no input lag din, my son even streamed his game (fast action games) from his bedroom pc to his laptop connected to my TV (via LAN)i - no input lag!! :D ... all inputs on both TVs are upscaled to their default resolutions which is 4K - and the experience is FANTASTIC!!!! :)

This i know. That's why i was hoping there was a way to turn off 4k upscaling in game mode (pang movies na lang yung 4k upscaling kung baga) but then again, why buy a 4k display only to downscale it to 1080p? Lol!

As a gamer, i did a little research on this. Apparently di pala maganda ang current models of 4k tvs for gaming. Even on game mode. The upscaling of graphics to 4k causes noticeable input lag. Pass muna for this year and maybe next until they fix this.

this is for console gaming right? since most console games are at 720p and a few at 1080p.

sa PC kaya kasi ng 4k resolution so I'm guessing that won't be a prob for PC gaming? (I'm using a big screen tv for my pc gaming.pero not 4k yet. hehe)

this input lag made me decide against going 4k.  was very interested in the upscaling, till i heard about the lag..

im glad i skipped 4k for now..

and most new gen consoles, they dont have 4k support rin.

plus 4k has no available content pa.

I saw the phenomenal prices of TCL and excluded them as I could not find pricing on sulit for 65" or larger models.

While I was looking over 4K TVs I noticed that the cheap ones only have HDMI 1.4. This will limit resolution to 4K at 30p. The HDMI 2.0 spec has 4k at 60p.

Other than the Chinese brands what brands out there sell 4K TVs? I know Samsung, LG, Sony sell 4K TVs in the Philippines. Do Philips, Toshiba, Panasonic & Sharp offer here as well?

Toshiba sells their 84" 4K tv here. I think it costs around 555T.  :o

upscaling causes input lag. there's practically 0 4k content right now.
so what's the point of 4k today?
late 2016? probably. but 2014 to 2015? probably not.

I took the bait and ended up with the 55" LG UB85 4k panel...

If I continued to wait, I think the market will go beyond 4k models pretty soon... so will try to enjoy this as much as possible...

Good choice!  Anything smaller than 55" might just be a bit small for 4k.

I don't see 8k being practical until probably after 2021, to be honest, particularly since most film restorations are being done in 4k format.

I'm eyeing the entry level UHD of Samsung, the HU7000. Ok kaya? 60hz native panel lang ata ito eh. Mas lamang pa yung H6400 (non-4K led) pero 120hz native panel. Yung HU7000 has 240hz clear motion rate while the H6400 has 480hz clear motion rate. Now I'm unsure what to get.

Maybe the owner shoots video in 4K or watches streamed content in 4K?

Until Netflix, Amazon or Sony brings their 4K service here, we'd be waiting for 4K Blurays (expected next year).

Sony has the best 4k tech imho, then Samsung, then LG fairs the last.  Compared it side by side playing a 1080p HD download of Malificent.

on the consumer end GoPro has a 4K camera already. Some android smartphones have 4k video. Through a 3rd party app you can use your iphone to record 4k.

Outside of countries with 4k streaming services there are no 4k content.

This is a reason why I'm holding off purchase to as early as 2016.

4k computer display is lovely today.

Best in what sense? Processing, scaling and factory calibration? Sony uses LG 4K panels, afaik.

Nice! GTX 980 or R9 290X would be great with that. :)

I hope Windows 10 fixes the current scaling issues.
