Topic: triode vs ultralinear and how long can you listen?

I have vaccum tube (KT-88) since 2008, 45 watts ultraliner and 25 watts triode.  95% of the time its on triode regardless of the genre of music i listen to and i listen only for 1 cd and then i turn it off.  In short i have not been optimizing the use of the amplifier. 

To improve my experience with vaccum tubes, can i ask?

  - when do you use ultralinear?
  - when do you use triode?
  - can i listen to extended hours though transformer is hot?  will not cause any damage?

ultra-linear is also a "triode like" operation to get more power from your amp
than a pure triode mode will give....
choose whichever you like best.....
the fact that you've had your amps since 2008 says something......
just provide enough ventilation for your amp to breathe and you will be fine....

One hour,  Thats the least amount of time when I listen to my setup regardless of triode or UL mode. But most of the time its on UL,  triode is too sweet (dull) on audiophile recordings.

+1 on the ventilation, a small fan will help reduce heat, specially during the summer.

To each his own preference wether triode or ultralinear mode of operation for your KT88 amp. Pero since 2008 mo pa ginagamit kt88 amp mo at mixed modes of operating your amp. I rest my case brother.
