BOE to set up 3rd OLED factory in western China, say reports

BOE Technology will invest CNY46.5 billion (US$6.94 billion) to set up a 6G flexible OLED panel factory with monthly production capacity of 48,000 glass substrates in Mianyang City, western China, its third OLED factory in China, and will start construction in December 2016 and production in 2019, according to China-based media reports.
BOE has begun production at a 5.5G rigid OLED panel factory in Ordos City, northern China, and will expand monthly production capacity to 4,000 glass substrates in 2019.
In addition, BOE is setting up a 6G flexible OLED panel factory in Qingdao City, northern China, with investment of CNY22 billion, and will gradually install a monthly production capacity of 15,000 glass substrates in 2017, 2018 and 2019 each.
BOE will have a total monthly production capacity of 4,000 glass substrates for rigid OLED panels and 93,000 units for flexible OLED panels in 2019. In comparison, Samsung Display will have total monthly production capacity of 190,000 glass substrates for rigid OLED panels and 180,000 units for flexible OLED panels in 2019, while LG Display will have total monthly production capacity of 96,000 glass substrates for flexible OLED panels in the year.
China-based China Star Optoelectronics Technology, Truly Opto-Electronics, Visionox and Tianma Micro-electronics as well as Japan-based Sharp and Japan Display also plan to set up flexible OLED production capacities.
