Same here. Nothing seems new from CES other than QLED, which has inferior blacks and contrast but has better brightness.

Content is here so I bought the TV already.

Improvements are incremental, at best.

What I saw is 2 more HDR options and 25% increase of peak brightness.

Sony and Panasonic will be positioning their products at a higher price than LG.

If you notice none of the 2017 LG TV are curved or have 3D.

thanks, guys!

so it is still safe (for no regrets) buying this B6 2016 OLED model at this time, right?  seems to my researches, there aren't much improvements nor signs of lowered prices for these upcoming 2017 OLEDs.

and seems since 2015 FHD OLED, they introduced 4K OLED this 2016.  and for 2017, perhaps other than brightness/contrasts and thinner bezels, none has been added much, am I correct?

sir @Verbl, when are you planning to buy?  (nangda-damay lang din LOLz!) =))

For me a 📺 purchase should last 8 years. Feature set would tide you over until 8k becomes practical.

Streaming 8k would require more than 80Mbps of bandwidth.

For those wanting to see what the 2017 B7 specs are...

http://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-OLED65B7P-oled-4k-tv

I did a side by side comparison.

Only difference I see so far is that there are

B6
- 4.0 channel speaker @ 40W
- webOS 3.0
- HDR10
- Dolby Vision

B7
- 2.2 channel speaker at 40W
- webOS 3.5
- HDR10
- Dolby Vision
- Hybrid Log Gamma
- Advanced HDR by Technicolor
- 25% increase in peak brightness
- Dolby Atmos built-in

TV case design are identical

Everyone who have not decided to buy their OLED. You are fortunate. Prices will continue to drop in spite of the B7 just being an incremental upgrade.

Software update for B6 TVs.

04.30.77 as of 4 January 2017.

With the newest firmware update (04.30.77) the input lag has been reduced across all resolutions. A 'HDR Game' picture mode has been added, and the input lag no longer cycles over time. The results above have been updated.

Below I believe are doable via Firmware upgrade.  But I doubt if they will provide these with 2016 OLED models =))

they would.  besides, im sure theyve stopped manufacturing 2016 models for sure.. same as iphones lang naman yan, they will keep on rolling out updates upto the capabilities of the processor and the hardware. then if dragged down na ang hardware. stop na.

I've read that TV software updates will last 2-3 years for the year model. So my 2016 OLED will be updated until 2018 or 2019.

Reminds me of Android smartphones but at 2x the software support length. ;)

That's why I am glad there are dongles that can plug into HDMI that can still keep your display updated.

Might be a future NVdia Shield or Project Scorpio in my future yet.

LG B7 series, its cheapest OLED TVs, will match picture quality of its most expensive
https://www.cnet.com/products/lg-b7-series/preview/

LG's new B7, C7, E7 and G7 OLED TVs support 4 HDR formats
http://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1483556000

LG’s new flagship 4K OLED TV is stunningly thin
http://www.theverge.com/ces/2017/1/4/14155650/lg-oled-4k-tv-w-ces-2017-specs-release-date

http://www.avsforum.com/lg-oled-tvs-at-ces-2017/

Key improvements over 2016

* a 25% increase in brightness—LG claims they can reproduce up to 1000 nits in small areas of the image

* 99% of the DCI/P3 color gamut, a slight increase over the 97% achieved by 2016 models

* all will be certified as UHD Premium by the Ultra HD Alliance like the 2016 models.

* they can pass an Atmos bitstream from internal apps and external devices connected to the TV’s HDMI input via HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel). In addition, all the OLED TVs simulate Atmos sound using DSP—and, in the case of the flagship W7, a sound bar with two up firing speakers

* all OLED TVs offer compatibility with HDR10 and Dolby Vision high dynamic-range content, and they will also support HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) and Advanced HDR from Technicolor after a firmware update. A feature called Active HDR emulates dynamic metadata with HDR10 and HLG content; Dolby Vision uses dynamic metadata, which can result in a better overall HDR picture because each scene can have its own metadata rather than a single set of metadata for the entire program

* all are flat; there are no curved models this year

* The entry-level B7 will be available in 55″ and 65″ screen sizes with a “Blade Slim” design, while the C7 features a premium aluminum stand and bezel in the same screen sizes. The next step up is the E7 with LG’s “Picture on Glass” design and a soundbar stand in screen sizes of 55″ and 65″

* LG’s “Signature” designation now applies to two model lines, the G7 and W7, both of which will be available in 65″ and 77″ sizes. The G7 sports the Picture on Glass design and a foldable soundbar stand, while the new W7 features a design called “Picture on Wall” with unique hardware that lets you mount it nearly flush to the wall—there’s less than 4 mm from the wall to the front of the screen.

* pricing was not announced, but the new OLED TVs are expected to ship in April

So when I buy my next TV it should be January or April 2025.

HISENSE ULED TV  ;D

"ULED" doesn't offer much at the high end of the TV market even with its good local dimming. It doesn't even get close to UHD Premium specs. If it's priced well, it might be a good value option.

Ultra LED. It's just Hisense's term for their improved local dimming VA tech.

It is a bit far from QLED models in performance based on numbers. It probably won't hold a candle against OLED.
