That's true, people always dismiss burn in as just image retention, but burn in is derived from prolonged image retention in one particular spot imo.
Back cases, as we all know, is a huge heatsink. I noticed some rugged cases really traps the heat on the backside. Those thick rubber ones in particular.
So baka ok lang naman yung tempered glass, yung backside lang tlaga needs to be air cooled as much as possible.
Oled TV topic pala neto and not oled screens hehehe

My note 8 got burned in. Screen went pinkish and yun time on display (bec i always have this on pag blank screen) na burn in. Kitang kita pag text messaging. So far no prob on my note 10. I never use screen protection. I always use spigen case to protect my screen in case nahulog ko.

Back to oled tvs. I have the Sony a9g and picture is just amazing. Beautiful talaga. I've never seen some movies with the picture quality this beautiful. Im not gonna worry about screen burn for now. I just rarely watch my cignal cable sa oled and no games so far. I will just use my other tvs for that.
My oled is purely for movies from my physical media, media player for downloads, netflix and youtubes. I try to avoid static images.

Will i recommend a oled. YES! definitely hehe

Buy the best TV you can get really .. We had Pioneer Kuros plasma for over 10 yrs as it was not worth  it upgrading to lcd s . .. THe Oleds  now are at a great price point , And I think if you get the right size tv you will not need to upgrade for a long time .

Did your S9 have a tempered glass protector? The only phone that I experienced burn-in had a tempered glass protector which "overheats" the screen.

yes it did have a tempered glass installed, but not really sure if that would have caused it .... pag white or light yung background ng screen, kitang kita mo na naka-burn yung images ng Sudoku game ... pag ibang display naman like watching a video, hindi naman mapapansin, kaya lang di ko na mabenta yung unit dahil sigurado babaratin lang pag nakita yung burn-in so just decided na pamigay ko na lang sa pamangkin ko

in my case, naka-55 na ako since 2017 (LG Nano TV), and every time I see the 65-inch tv's sa mga hotel na tinitirhan ko dati, parang gusto ko na mag-upgrade ... laki ng difference especially watching sports ... I'm sold with the picture quality of the LG C1, but coming from another LG TV, I just hate it that they could not support the NBA TV on WebOS, kaya I'm targeting the Sony A80J ... If I get the Google TV, I can get rid of my Roku and Chromecast (less power consumption and clutter) ... I'm just waiting for the usual price drop likely early 2022 (few months na lang)

One more suggestion on buying tvs. Imo, don't wait too much for the price to bottom out. I know we want the best deals, but sometimes by the time you wait for the price you are willing to score, the model you want may be out of stock or mga display units left.

That would be neat...........pero I assume na gusto ni Sony PH na mauubos ang buong stock ng A9G sa Pinas bago nila gawin yun?

Agree. Never understimate the buying power of the other people eyeing that model same as you.

So I took the plunge (yet again) and got an A80J yesterday as i preferred it over the C1.

Itong nakaraang weekend lang ako nagka-time i-DIY wallmount installation yung bagong TV. Naglatag pa ako ng CAT7 ethernet cable papuntang router. First time ko maka experience manood ng HDR movie sa LG C1 OLED 48". Ang ganda pala. Nawala yung pagod ko. haha

Napansin ko medyo kulang yung peak brightness yung OLED in Film Maker picture mode. I can see the potential pag naka enable yung HDR Tonemapping. The intense light sources and specular highlights in scenes really pop while preserved yung contrast sa darker parts. Yun lang medyo napansin ko yung occasional white clipping kaya disabled ko muna for accuracy. Pano pa kaya yung mga naka MiniLED na kaya yung >1000 nits.

Next weekend, pag may time, calibrate naman gamit yung  i1 Display Pro at Calman Home for LG.

May mga nababasa ako na nag di-dim yung display after a while gaming with LG oled. Brightness is okay at the start then will dim after some time.

Does this also happen when watching movies?
Does the display dim only when the brightness is set too high?
Is this true for all OLEDs?

Not with my B7. It only dims if you're not using it/paused for a long time, then eventually goes into screensaver mode. But never did that while I was watching or playing games.

I'm using it as a computer monitor picture mode HDR standard, typing this right now with chrome and doesn't dim... at least whatever brightness this is in right now.

yung heat ang nakaka burn ng screen.. dati gamit ko as cyclo comp is my S9 with AMOLED screen.. eh nabibilad sa araw pag nag bike.. ayun makikita mo after na may burn-in marks.. pero pag nag cool down na nawawala din..

so kung babad sa init yung unit, possible talaga mag burn in ang image lalo na kung static image

Baka image retention nakita mo kaya nawawala din agad. Mas malakas ang image retention pag ganyan dahil nagaadjust to peak intensity yung screen to counteract yung bright lighting outdoors.

Yung permanent burn-in is from uneven phosphor deterioration. High screen brightness levels for extended periods nagcacause nito lalo kung static image nakadisplay. Lahat ng phosphor-based displays prone diyan, iba iba lang ang endurance depende sa design and operating parameters.

Yung color shift ng mga LCD panels as they age is also from the same cause, kasi karamihan ng backlights ng LCD screens phosphor-based din. Pero dahil hindi localized yung backlighting in most cases, even yung color shift kaya hindi pansin yung burn-in. You can easily compensate for it by recalibrating the display.

Sa emissive displays and locally backlit displays, mas noticeable ang burn-in dahil certain portions lang ng screen at a time ang naaapektohan.

I was able to buy a cheap HDMI 2.1 cable from Lazada that's actually certified the real deal as verified by the HDMI app.

Works great with the 3080 Ti with 4K 120Hz and G-Sync but  I did run into an issue where my primary monitor wouldn't wake up from sleep with the LG TV connected as a secondary display. I think I fixed it by turning off the "deep sleep" setting in my monitor OSD.

For LG Oled owners: How can I change the location in the settings? It does not have any choices in the countries under location (only Philippines). I already  did a reset but it still defaults to PH which is greyed out.. I want to install HBO Max and Disney+, using Web OS, which are not available in the PH.  I changed the DNS but it still stays in PH.
TIA
