For LG Oled owners: How can I change the location in the settings? It does not have any choices in the countries under location (only Philippines). I already  did a reset but it still defaults to PH which is greyed out.. I want to install HBO Max and Disney+, using Web OS, which are not available in the PH.  I changed the DNS but it still stays in PH.
TIA

I think even if are able to install HBO Max and Disney, the apps itself would be able to detect your location through your IP address. I just got an Amazon Firestick and installed a VPN app on it and I am able to stream on HBO Max, Disney+, Paramount+ and Hulu.

I had some time to do LG C1 OLED calibrations last night since I got my 2nd vaccine dose yesterday and decided to take the following day off. Turns out calibrations have to be done for each mode of the TV that's going to be used so it's very time consuming @ 1h 30m to 2h per mode. I had to calibrate SDR Expert Bright, then HDR Cinema, then Dolby Vision Cinema, then SDR Game. I wasn't able to calibrate HDR Game because it was getting too late and I was beginning to feel unwell.

I spent most of today watching SDR, HDR and Dolby Vision movies and shows and played a little Breath of the Wild on the Switch. Extremely pleased with the results. Everything looks right, from the skin tones to the shadow detail. Glad I was able to get rid of the annoying off-hues/tint, over saturation, luminance clipping and black crush of the factory LG presets. Well worth the effort. Calibrated Dolby Vision looks particularly impressive as it's able to maximize the capabilities and limitations of the OLED panel with its content-aware dynamic tone mapping metadata instead of using the less accurate built-in HDR Tonemapping feature of the C1.

One of the main reasons why I went with LG over Sony is because of the more comprehensive hardware LUT calibration functionality support of the former with Calman.

Got pretty decent results the first time around:

https://www.whathifi.com/news/lg-cx-and-gx-oled-tvs-getting-support-for-4k120hz-with-dolby-vision

The tech giant has told Forbes that it expects to "start rolling out a Dolby Vision at 120Hz firmware update for its 2020 CX and GX OLED TVs ‘very soon’ in South Korea", followed by a global rollout starting next week.

Previously, both LG sets could only manage to play games in Dolby Vision at 60Hz, meaning Xbox Series X owners couldn't max out the high-end picture performance of their machines.

Earlier this year, LG did the same for its 2021 OLED TVs, releasing an over-the-air update that gave its B1, C1 and G1 panels the ability to output 4K@120Hz with Dolby Vision."

Nice bonus for CX and GX users.

I was at Abensons at Waltermart Makati earlier today and checking if the prices of the Sony 65-inch A80J have improved - same pa rin, no movement at 119k SRP ... the salesrep was offering me last year's 65-inch A9G OLED tv, naka-sale daw at 74k+ (almost 75k rounded off) - I asked kung display unit as the price is too low, brand new sealed daw, they have two units left on stock ... pinapaubos na lang siguro kaya bagsak presyo

I think that the A9G at that price is a good buy if you do not intend to use it for gaming ... the only downside I can see really is for gaming with the new consoles as it does not have hdmi 2.1 yet, for movies and broadcast tv it is a steal

Sir kapag sa dark room mas maganda pa rin perceived blacks ng glossy vs semigloss or equal na sila?

gloss vs semi-gloss sa dark room meron pa din effect pero no as much. ksi the tv itself produces light na iniiscatter pa rin ng coating kaya mas sharp pa din tingnan ang a90j kesa sa a80j kht prehas sila na meron XR processor in the dark or bright room. madali irule-out na it will not matter ksi lights off ka naman manood, pero come to think about it gaano percentage n gamit mo tv with ligjts off watching non-movie videos? for me i want to enjoy the deep blacks regardless or ambient light. 😅

only sa perceived contrast and vibrancy because of the glossy anti eflective coating. im sure the XR processing is better than that of a9g and color accuracy of any sony is better than lg oleds. in short po selling point for me ung glossy screen talaga. also lg oled is said to have crushed blacks out of the box without calibration sa white balance but sony a80j have raised blacks just above blacks "out of the box" sa 2.5-5% grays hence the boosted shadow details in expense of depth as said by hdtv test.

Anyone thinking of upgrading from a 4K OLED TV  to a 8K mini LED TV once Netflix, Prime Video & YouTube starts streaming 8K resolution content?

How about when video consoles or PCs start going with 8K content?

For me I'm good for now, upgrades would be years again for me as I'm just happy to acquire LG's OLED & Nanocell this time of the pandemic, never thought TV was this great for movies than a projector.

just a note that those are what they advertise as discounted prices, and if you're planning to purchase via credit card installment, the prices are much higher ... that 65LGC1 is around 125k if purchase via credit card installment

Wow! I didn't know we had the Panas here locally. Could've been interesting if they had the 2000.

The Panasonic JZ1000 is a very very good TV.  In my opinion, the best one for movies for any TV priced under ₱100k.

EDIT: yes, I think it's even better than the LG C1 for movies; note that the C1 is better for gaming though

As far as I could recall majority if not all TV including Panasonic and Sony or big OLED panels are sourced frm LG. They only differs on processors and all others electronic..

You're right, of course.  I guess I should have put "very very good TV" instead of "panel".  Will edit the post to indicate this.

+1 sa Perfect View

Madalas din yan mag sale sa mga mall hardware shops (ACE Hardware ako bumili dati).  Tanongan mo na lang sa promodizer nila nagsasabi naman kung kailan usually mag sale.

My cousin just couldn't resist, bought both the 48" (to be used as a monitor) plus the 65" and asked me to help calibrate.

NOTE: both C1's did NOT come with an HDMI cable while the wall mount will be free for 55" and above only.

Had quite a bit of difficulty setting up the right settings for multiple devices and profiles.

This thread in reddit really helped out:

https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED_Gaming/comments/mbpiwy/lg_oled_gamingpc_monitor_recommended_settings/

It basically had everything that I needed and was as up to date as 09 Nov 2021.  The post also gets updated whenever new firmware arrives.  Copy-pasted a snippet below:

Quote
PC - WINDOWS 11 SETTINGS

    DISPLAY

        Use HDR: On or Off

Note: Quickly toggle HDR using Win + Alt + B. Leaving Windows in HDR at all times will force SDR gamma to 2.2.

        Play streaming HDR video: On

Note (Image 2): Install HEVC, VP9, and AV1 codec apps.

Auto HDR: On or Off [On converts applicable SDR games to HDR10.]

        SDR content brightness: 11% (11-19%) or 19-31%

19-31%: Choose for bright room use if SDR OLED Pixel Brightness set to 60-100.

Note: Goal is to have SDR content (gamma 2.2) appear similar between SDR and HDR modes. HDR peak luminance is ~800 nits, and SDR peak full screen luminance is ~250 nits in PC mode. So, SDR content brightness (%) = B/100 x 250/800 x 100 = 0.3125 x B, B = SDR OLED Pixel Brightness.

Otherwise, Windows uses default tone mapping curve with minTML/maxTML/maxFFTML of 0/1499/799 nits, resulting in color clipping.
