Did your S9 have a tempered glass screen protector?

it did not have, not even plastic ... because of the non-flat edge, screen protectors get peeled-off when placing the phone case

any recommended grey market stores? I assume these do not have the same warranty and service as the local LG/Sony?

Mine is grey, and LG is honoring the warranty.

Check carousell  if you want to buy

Agree. but they are the only one supplying the TVs (big screen) and they have monopoly on it.

It's not a bad thing to have a new player in the space though. More competition usually means more innovation.

Carousell sellers I usually see are just agents of the usual appliance stores... Sorry, what is meant by Grey market? I assume Grey market are those imported and didn't go through the local distributor... e.g. apple phone bought abroad and not locally.

It is grey as it is not through the local appliance store.
They  happen to have a tie up with the store and the testing can be done there.  You may opt not to test.
They don't their own physical store.

Okay. Then I got mine via "grey" market too... contacted via olx and settled in Abensons SM North with an Abensons OR.

LOL.  First it should be cheaper than the local appliance store. Second, the OR should not be from a local store which has a physical store.

Try  to "contact" one of those seller in carousell (formerly olx) and you would know what I mean.

I did contact one in olx (then), and it was significantly cheaper than Abenson price which was about 93k 5 years ago, but I got it at 78k cash. He also explained to me that the reason for all these olx sellers selling lower than SRP is that they give up a large part of their commission to get the sale.

In any case, I know now what you mean by gray market; I just always thought of it like HANCARS for Starex or Caloocan Sales Center for Big Bikes, but you cannot bring those to the casa or need to pay a registration fee to get serviced (e.g. BMW).

Someone also posted here that they can keep the price low due to ordering in large amount. Something the big appliance store can't match.  (Try to back read a few pages).

Mine is LG and they are honoring the warranty, tech came in today to replace the panel due to banding.
But so happen they brought in 65" panel, mine is 55".   Not sure where is the disconnect on their documentation.

They are coming back tomorrow to put in the right one.

I already have an LG C1 OLED TV but i'm going to try to get an Alienware QD-OLED gaming monitor if it ever gets released locally. Both the reviews and user feedback have been quite positive for the most part. The few issues it has aren't deal breakers.

I've already reached out to multiple Dell distributors and all of them are saying they won't be making this available in the first half of the year.  Incidentally, they are also backed up on their other Alienware inventory (i.e. Alder Lake laptops) that trying to get one means waiting anywhere from 45 to 60 business days.

related pa rin yan sa chip shortage, even for our office use na laptops and monitors, we had to buy alternative models pero delays pa rin ang delivery - this is the same situation in our US office

I heard that the non-OLED UHD models from Sony are about to arrive in the appliance stores this week.  No word yet on when the new OLED's arrive.

Confirmed but still no Sony OLEDs. LG C2 tv's aren't here yet either even if other SEA countries already have it.

likely madaming stock ng C1 at pinauubos pa ... probably the best time to buy the C1 model now, lowest price

The 42 inch will be really tempting for gamers once the price goes down further.  The 48" is just too big for desktop use.

I'm thinking of putting that on a TV stand so I can still adjust the height to my liking. AFAIK there are no monitor arms that would be able to handle the size and weight of the 42" C2 OLED.

Something like this:

That said, LG has already announced that they will be releasing a 48" OLED dedicated gaming monitor

https://www.lgnewsroom.com/2022/05/gear-up-for-next-level-gaming-experiences-with-new-lg-ultragear-gaming-monitors/

I hope they will eventually come in smaller sizes and in ultrawide.

QD-OLED test

Best OLED panel performance to date (Samsung S95B)
https://youtu.be/VpDBAZ0vNuo

The full Sony A95K test should follow but initial tests show lower peak brightness and color volume than S95B while still being higher than all W-OLED TVs. I'm hoping that they include better upscaling of 1080p and lower content as that would become a competitive advantage over the S95B (together with the Sony supporting Dolby Vision).

I'd take that deal in a heartbeat, basta bnew with local warranty.  The C2 isn't a quantum leap in quality over the C1 and the price of the 65C2  won't go under 90k until probably June next year.
