AVR or UPS (full sine wave)?

noi need for full sine wave UPS, besides being more expensive, those are only important when you have AC motors on the equipment that you plan to protect

I see.
Pero, mas advisable ba UPS?
Or sapat na AVR?

Very sensitive pa rin ba ang HDTV sa brownout / blackout / total-loss of electricity?

most small and cheap UPS do not have voltage regulation, these are the ones called line interactive ... these UPS are just on bypass state when commercial power is on, hence you are better off in buying an AVR if price point is a consideration

likely not unless from grey market ... last year di rin na-release yung top of the line sa OLED and non-OLED dito sa PH market

If there's no chance the Sony A95K will be released locally, I am struggling whether to get the A80K or another LG OLED which is a C2 currently available. That unless, newer models are soon to be released in a few months (usually March, right)?

For my case:
Price point is not a consideration.

More on device protection ang mas mahalaga (personally)

look for double conversion UPS then - price is probably 6~8x that of an AVR, price point is not a concern anyway .... but for the AVR's that I've been using for my AV equipment for more than 20 years, I never had an issue that is power input related

I think another option is to have a AVR and UPS combo.   I was planning to do this since my LG tv does not turn off when there is a power fluctuation (it is on state when power goes back). When you have and AVR you have a few minutes to turn off the power.

I just hope that LG switches to Google TV OS, very limiting yung WebOS nila, and it was one of my main considerations when I bought an OLED tv

android/google tv can install apks while while with webOS you are limited to what their app store offers.

I have an older 2017 LG OLED, and compared to my android TVs, I cannot install disney+, hbo, and the video player cannot play more complex files. In my Sony, no problems, all apps can be downloaded and I use VLC for movie files.

Android TV is now Google TV ... may mga apps na ginagamit ko as a default na wala yung WebOS, like NBA League Pass, IPTV, and Discovery, and I had to use a Google Chrome or Roku to access such

Google TV was launched in 2020, so it could not have been "discontinued as early as June 2014."

oh, I missed the "OS". Google TV now is just an interface running on Android TV OS.

on my Android TVs, I usually install BMC, a Kodi fork and Stremio. aside from the usual streaming apps Netflix and Disney+

Based on user's replies the brighter it is easier to see details.

Typical household buys a TV every 1-2 decades.

I'm upgrading when 8K discs, 8K Netflix, 8K Prime & 8K YouTube becomes a thing.

Sa tingin ko year 2026 or later.

That is 3 years from now.

Pwede rin delay upgrading to year 2036.

Depends on the durability of TVs. Mine conk out after 5 years.

Agree on the brightness benefits, but is this all they can give? I am thinking they are upgrading the brightness piecemeal, so that customers can upgrade yearly.

Maybe LG will have DTS now, the one they PR a few months ago.

I've observed that TVs with AVRs do better than those without. So cross my finger than my 2016 B6 will remain operational another 3 more years or even until 2036.

There are other improvements of newer OLED TVs like HDMI 2.1a, VVR for game consoles like PS5 & Xbox Series X, improved TV OS and faster SoC

I've been reading that some pirates will upgrade when the 100Mbps Ethernet port is upgradd to 1Gbps as streaming from their HTPC or NAS 4K blu-ray rips was getting bottlenecked. I only see that occurring when it becomes 8K as 100Mbps would be too slow for streaming.

I had to delete my TV's Netflix, YouTube and Prime Video app as they werent responsive. Thankfully linking my accounts was as easy as scanning the on-screen QR code to activate.

You can either use WiFi or upgrade the Ethernet to 1Gbps by buying a USB Gig-Ethernet port that is supported on both Sony anfd LG OLED, the USB adapter sells at around 1.5k at Lazada ... here's the info - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIef8iRZhLE&t=173s

Thanks for the link but I havent encountered that problem.

it's not really a problem but rather a limitation, the Ethernet ports built-in to the tv's even the high-end ones only have 100Mbps ... there are new streaming services like the Sony Bravia Core that requires more than a 100Mbps connection, hence they recommend to use WiFi which is faster than the 100Mbs Ethernet port, the more stable alternative is the GiG-E USB adapter ... regarding VRR, it has been available for quite some time
