it's not really a problem but rather a limitation, the Ethernet ports built-in to the tv's even the high-end ones only have 100Mbps ... there are new streaming services like the Sony Bravia Core that requires more than a 100Mbps connection, hence they recommend to use WiFi which is faster than the 100Mbs Ethernet port, the more stable alternative is the GiG-E USB adapter ... regarding VRR, it has been available for quite some time
So the Sony service works on non-Sony PH TVs?

no, just Sony and it is free - appears to be a trial platform for them, but in the future Netflix and other streaming platforms will be streaming higer resolution and we would need support for higher bandwidths
Marantz NR1200, MartinLogan Motion 20 digital audio setup, and Sony A80J

Thank you for the clarification.

Netflix or any other streaming service have been cost cutting left and right.

You can either use WiFi or upgrade the Ethernet to 1Gbps by buying a USB Gig-Ethernet port that is supported on both Sony anfd LG OLED, the USB adapter sells at around 1.5k at Lazada ... here's the info - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIef8iRZhLE&t=173s
Easier said than done.I already have two USB Ethernet adapters that did not work for my LG TV. I'm still contemplating whether to order the "Cable Matters" brand from Amazon. I already have the latest Apple TV 4k with a gigabit Ethernet port so I might not do so anymore.

Ah so in layman's terms:

I already have the latest Apple TV 4k with a gigabit Ethernet port so I might not do so anymore.

Your solution is what I would do. I love that Apple TV 4K is a 5nm SoC so tipid sa power and leading edge node.

Does it play files from NAS?

My TV's 7 years old and over the years its YouTube, Netflix and Prime Video apps have been slowing down. That is a good incentive to buy a year 2026 NVidia Shield or Apple TV so it becomes snappy.

Typical household keeps their TV up to 1-2 decades. This does not apply to enthusiasts who replace on a shorter cycle. I'd only upgrade if it is like from

- black & white to color screen
- VHF-only to VHF + UHF channels
- non-progressive to progressive TV
- 480p to 720p
- 720p to 1080p
- 1080p to 4K (2006-2016)
- 4K or 8K (2016-2026)
- 8K to 16K (2026-2036)

These bump in display resolution and format resolution occurs every decade.

Although I do not know if this will continue to be the case a decade after 2016. There is no word on 8K blu-ray and YouTube and PCs are the only platforms that does 8K content today.

I use the Infuse app to play videos from my nas to the apple tv 4k. Its possible through either the smb or dlna protocols.

Lately though, I’ve been using the built in media player of my LG C1 OLED because it can more reliably playback 2160p 60fps AV1 and VP9 videos ripped from youtube than the apple tv 4k which lags on those types of video encodes. I think this is because the LG a9 gen 4 SoC can do hardware decode for AV1 and VP9 while the Apple TV 4K A12(2nd gen) and A15(3rd gen) SoCs still does software decode for them. Everything else plays fine on the apple tv 4k though.

the one that is on that Youtube link was proven to work on Sony OLED and LG OLED tv's ... better to buy what was proven to work, less risk ... parang trial and error kasi pag other brands

The Apple TV 4k is only good for streaming. How I wish that you could connect a hard drive to it. What I like about it is that even the menu screen is already in HDR.

tl;dr: For some reason Sony TVs are degrading faster than LG's despite using the same panel. QD-OLED more at risk of burn-in compared to WOLED.

That's odd seeming Sony OLEDs are mroe expensive than LG OLEDs.

I've had my B6 for the nearly 7 years with total power on time of 3,687 hours. Less than 100 minutes per day playing YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video and 2K & 4K video files.

A new batch of Panny OLEDs arrived. These are not new models, it seems, but the JZ1000s from 2021. Sadly, prices have inflated to the point that LG C2's on clearance will end up being cheaper.

I'm not saying the JZ1000 is a bad tv, far from it, it's actually a great tv.  However, at these prices, the C2 seems to be the better bargain.

Posted Sony OLED reduced prices too, in case anyone is curious. These are 2022 K models.

If 8K gaming consoles, 8K blu-ray and 8K streaming are released in 2026 will you upgrade to a 8K OLED display?

Right now unlimited 200Mbps with unlimited landline is available for Plan 1299 in select areas with Globe & PLDT.

3 years from now I would not be surprised that 1Gbps will be offered at that price point.

at these prices and the recent developments on the JZ1000 series, I think this is a really bad deal.
I love my 65JZ1000's picture quality. Amazing for the price I paid last year (69k only!)
However, the OS has one glaring issue. The youtube app no longer works. I guess it needs a firmware upgrade.
This has been going on the past week now.

2022 LG A1 OLED 77" is selling for less than $1,500.

Is it worth the price? Is it being sold in PH for around that price?

IMHO, I don't think LG Ph would ever bring the 77" A3 here.

As for the 77" A1, we didn't get it here but I do believe seceral 77" CX's did get here early last year via HMR.

Rephrasing...

Have you replaced an older OLED TV with a newer one?

This thread started nearly a decade ago with the 1st 55" model selling for US$15,000 in 2013 money.

Today, the cheapest 2022 55" OLED today would sell for under $1,500.
