LG C3's have arrived. Got word from guys in SM, Abenson, and Anson's. Price listings are still at SRP, though.

They have the marketing stuff out but the display units won't arrive until later this week.  The TV in the photo is an A2.

Based on what I'm reading here (and what I've heard elsewhere), I won't be buying Samsung TVs anytime soon.

The fact that Samsung is now using LG OLED screens, is this an indication that OLED>QLED?

I hope the panel manufacturers can develop burn-in proof OLEDs or at least mitigate burn-in enough so they become more viable for PC use without worrying about it.

I think that the current batches already have this feature.  I've been using a Sony OLED for 1.5 years and have not observed any burn-ins, unlike the old plasma tv's and initilal release of OLEDs on mobile phones na madali magkaroon ng burn-in - kahit yung mga OLED sa Samsung phones parang di na rin susceptible sa burn-in.

i agree. The burn in for OLED doesn't look to be as severe as plasma. Malayo actually. Remember karamihan ng mobile phones OLED na ang gamit. The pixel orbiter works well din naman

OLED PC monitors unfortunately are still 1st gen unlike TVs so burn-in of UI elements do happen within months to a year of use.

I use to have the Samsung S9 which I think the first batches of OLED on their phones ... after about 2 months of use meron ng permanent burn-in sa kakalaro ko ng Sudoku, now using the S22 for over a year wala pa  rin burn in

I think this is a win for LG, their gamble paid off.

This is the reason Samsung had eaten their words and jump-ship :D

I still have a couple of Pioneer plasmas along with an Oled LG.  I haven't experienced any hint of burn-in on any of them, even on my 15-year old Pioneer plasma.

Do you use your OLED/Plasma TVs as computer monitors? I've seen a a good number reports of burn-in with the Dell Alienware AW3423DW and AW3423DWF OLED gaming monitors on reddit. Rtings did a stress test on these and they also got burn-in. If I recall correctly, Linus from LinusTechTips also got burn on early on with his ASUS 48 and 42 OLED monitors with normal use.

I use an LG B6 as a computer monitor. After 5 years, it had burn in of some of the icons in the taskbar as well some of the desktop icons near the top. I usually just game but often browse as well. There's also a Netflix logo on the bottom right using the native TV app that burned in. They replace my panel and now I just try to make sure the display isn't idle for too long and browse for netflix shows on my phone instead.

No.  Lesson learned then:  Use Oled or plasma TVs only for watching movies, streaming videos, and gaming, never as PC monitors.  For that, get a less expensive backlit monitor.

^ Ouch! That's what I was afraid of. Static UI or HUD elements burning in.

My LG C1 OLED thankfully still has no burn-in but I have to admit, I rarely play my PS5 and Switch on it as I do most of my gaming on my PC.

I also have all the OLED panel saving features turned on including pixel shift, static logo dimming and automatic pixel cleaning/refresh. I just hope OLED panel tech advances enough that all that stuff wouldn't be necessary anymore.

Any feedback on Samsung S90C? Apart from the 1 year warranty, the 55" is still 10k cheaper than the LG C3, which makes it a bit tempting.

Color luminance and brightness is probably better than the C3. Contrast will also be better on the S90c, particularly for urban Blade Runner type scenes. In brightly-lit rooms, the QD-OLED will probably also outperform the OLED competition from Panasonic, LG, or Sony.

Motion for sports and movies is probably slightly better on the C3 but this would likely depend on which firmware versions per tv are competing against each other. PC Gaming will undoubtedly be better with the S90c's 144Hz refresh rate but console gamers will probably prefer LG or Sony because of the next paragraph.

Unfortunately, some of the best content these days use Dolby Vision, which is not available on Samsung (but Dolby Atmos is, oddly enough).  It also doesn't support DTS, so your av receiver will have to be Atmos capable to make the most out of the most recent releases.

Another con for me is the clunky TV interface and the lack of apps.  The software is also not as good processing lower quality streams, where Sony will probably be superior followed closely by LG.

You already mentioned the less than ideal 1-year warranty already but I'd also add that my aftersales experience with them was not stellar either.

I would personally not get the Samsung but if you don't care about Dolby Vision, don't need DTS, don't mind that there are less apps, and is ambivalent about the 1-year warranty, then the 10k discount might be enough for you to mitigate the risk.

Thanks, got the C3 yesterday primarily because of the aftersales, but also because of dolby vision. Went to Anson's to check both out but differences were negligible for me.

Congrats!

Most netflix movies / series is also in Vision.  This is a dealbreaker for me. I only realized this after getting an LG.

my Sony OLED (65A80J) tv has a defective panel ... while watching the tv appeared to just turn off - LED indicator blinks when remote control is operated, turns out that the number of blinks indicates an error code ... after the technician checked the unit, they said that the panel needs to be replaced and would take about a week to get the replacement - luckily it is still under warranty, was purchased January of last year.  Good thing that I'm getting a new panel, but worrying that it might recur after warranty, pretty sure that the cost of the panel is near the cost of buying a new tv. Also the technician mentioned that it is advisable to tone down the settings to prevent recurrence, I told him that I'm only on standard settings and he said that standard is still a bit high and advised customization (I don't agree with this as demo units are on all the time on vivid settings).

so far sir responsive naman, they sent technicians 2 days after I reported the problem ... yung spare part lang takes around 1 week daw since oorderin nila sa Sony, pero if maaga daw dumating pwede nila palitan earlier

sabi nga pala ng technician, wala daw problema kahit marathon gamitin ang tv, ang kalaban lang daw talaga ng OLED is kung masyadong mataas mga picture settings like vivid

I think yan ang standard nila kapag magpapalit na anng models.

I got my C1 around the same price.

Pero yung panasonic, bumaba nang P49,XXX during that time. I might have bought the panny kung naglabas agad sila. Late kase nang sale si Panny.
But so far I am so happy with my LG. Superb PQ and customer service.
I had the panel replaced after 3 months dahil tingin ko may pinkish hue kapag white screen. Pero I think it is just my high standard :D
