finally got my 51F5000 delivered and installed today ... according to the delivery guys, these are selling like hot cakes - they delivered 4 yesterday, and mine is their 3rd delivery for today, which according to them is unusual for large tv's ... big upgrade coming from Panasonic 42PV8 ... i haven't thinkered with the settings yet, but change from 720p to full HD is noticeable, this is a good upgrade i think ... only challenge is the auto tuning, you can only select aerial and set top box, no cable - the result was channel numbers are not arranged properly, i have to manually change the channels later

it seems to be more reflective than the Panasonic 42PV8, but not a worry for me as i've been using plasma tv for my HT

For the ones near the Ortigas area, you can try Abenson's - Galleria located at the basement.

Just look for Ryan or the store manager ( couldn't recall the name).  They would be willing to
attend to your orders.

Got the 51F5000 at P30,297 via straight card basis.
They didn't want at first as the "promotion" is not recognized by their branch
but after some negotiations they finally agreed.

Go get this "value for money" plasma tv!

mga boss,  sobra reflective ba talaga ang screen nito?  medyo maliwanag sa sala namin lalo na pag daytime.  im considering this one to try the Plasma experience vs  the Haier 50 inches LED TV.

always been a LCD/LED TV user (2 LCD sony,  1 LED Myview)  so im curious about the Plasma experience.  yun lang nga, sobra liwanag sala namin, and kahit mag black curtains pa ako, medyo maliwanag parin.

based on specs, it has lower power consumption than the 42 inch 5-year old plasma that i'm replacing ... comparison would really depend on what tv tour replacing

I just bought my Samsung F5000 from Abenson's Greenbelt. They're now accepting credit cards other than Metrobank. Paid with my EastWest card. Last day's tomorrow. Come and get it while you still can.

On another note, I kind of feel like I've downgraded since I'm coming from a WXGA DLP projector making an 86" screen. Then again, a plasma is another ballpark in terms of picture quality. But I'll miss the size. We also have another old plasma here, a Panasonic P50C10 from early 2009. I hope it's a lot better than our C10 when we get it. For some reason, Panasonic just makes superior plasmas. Even our old C10 craps on the HD-ready LG and Samsung plasmas I see at stores. Alas, this F5000 is stupidly cheap so it's impossible to complain.

pareho tayo boss ng pwesto ng TV.  kaya nag aatubili ako na magplasma bukod sa power consumption.  pero base sa mga pagtingin tingin ko sa mga stores,  talagang maganda nga PQ ng plasma.

One thing I noticed is that our old Panasonic plasma tv is more forgiving of movies encoded in low bitrates. Those played relatively smoothly in the Panasonic, but appear grainy/pixilated in this Samsung.

However, with 1080p movies with sufficient bitrates, the picture is crisp, clean and very clear, and the colors are superb. Plus, it has a very capable built-in media player that reads MKVs and MP4s without a stutter. Really a steal at the price.

okay na ko sa power consumption as posted earlier, mas matipid pa din lalabas ito sa current Panny LCD 37-inch namin para makasiguro kabitan na lang ng 300W UPS, ha ha ha

Yes, the Panasonic plasmas are ridiculously good at compensating for poor quality sources like low resolution, low bitrate videos and cable TV. It's like magic.

Anyway, when we tried playing back some lower bitrate 720p and 1080p videos at the store using the F5000's built-in player, the output was surprisingly good. For good measure, we played the same videos on a Samsung LED TV and the macroblocking from the lower bitrate 720p videos were just too obvious. The panel and video player's processing on the F5000 is very satisfying. Not overprocessed or anything. Just right, especially when on the preset "cinema" picture mode. The F5000 also has digital audio output just in case you have a HT system. But I don't know yet if it will decode DTS. Most likely just AC3 or multi-channel AAC, which is good enough for most.

i think medyo exaggerated naman yung comment na "hindi halos mapakinabangan" sa bright environment ... there's a setting on room environment, you can set the picture mode for bright room use ... my living room is well lit at wala namang problema, but a good proof are the displays on Abenson stores - their stores are commonly brightly lit (e.g. Avant in Greenbelt and Abensons in Glorietta), and you would still see the picture quality standout ... not unless you're using the tv outdoors, standard living room areas would likely be less brighter than the Abenson stores i mentioned

I was at AVANT Abenson Trinoma last night to view and demo this unit...

Im not here to bash the owners of this TV... just want to share my observations...

IMHO, the PQ is not at par with my current Pana 42VT30 unit...   Tried playing some of their USB sourced movies at 1080P... BLACKS are simply dull and pale in comparison with the VT30 (kahit naka DYNAMIC na yung SAMMY)... malayo talaga and PQ ng SAMMY PLASMA vs PANA PLASMA...  Not sure if this can be remedied thru color adjustment....

The back panel is very basic...very few connections...

for first time PLASMA buyers (51inches@30K)... the TV unit is really a bargain.... You get the new "STANDARD" size plasma model...

But if you have tried and tested PANA Plasma PQ in DYNAMIC mode... The SAMMY PQ is really a disappointment...

I was planning to upgrade to a new 50 incher this year and got excited with previous posts about this SAMMY... But after you have gone PANA PLASMA... The PQ standards are very different and distinct... very difficult to change to a bigger size unit but with lower PQ quality (BLACK LEVELS)... :(

the Sammy is really a bargain at 30K for firstime buyers... But ill pass and probably look at other models in the market...

Thanks Guys...

This also my observation when i saw it yesterday... I'm now having a second thought of keeping my 42" Panny and might go with a projector instead, if budget permits :)

But for the price, you cannot complain with this Sammy plasma ;)

We bought this TV at Avant Trinoma. When we previewed it there, my kids almost did not want to buy because of the grainy, dull demo videos the salesmen kept showing us. So if you would preview it, I suggest you bring your own high-res, high-bitrate test video in a flash disk.

When we set it up in  our TV room, beside our Panasonic TH-42C10S, any perceived advantage of the Panasonic panel in playing 720p movies is really very slight. Plus, of course, the 51F5000 can go up to full-hd 1080p. I would consider it really a great bargain, not because of the size-to-price ratio only, but because of the PQ, too. YMMV. The Panasonic has been demoted to the bedroom.  :)

when I bought the e550 I demoed it too side by side with a 50vt30..indeed mas ok ang vt30..but price wise..the price performance ratio can't be beat..esp this model..51" for 30k..with the right settings hindi dull ang black..I owned a 42pv80..even it's not in the league of your vt30..It was still a step up in PQ and black levels..

Planning to get this today if still possible in makati area. Would anyone know if it is still offered?
Would like to have some input on this if it is definitely an upgrade to my existing Panasonic 42C10 (if I'm not mistaken on the model)
