Btw, would anyone know if it's really being offered at 12mos on other cards besides metrobank?

Planning to get this today if still possible in makati area. Would anyone know if it is still offered?
Would like to have some input on this if it is definitely an upgrade to my existing Panasonic 42C10 (if I'm not mistaken on the model)

I'd like to give you feedback, but my F5000 won't be delivered until Wednesday. It's not fair to compare unless they're side by side. Plasmas tend to look ugly in appliance showrooms because of the uncontrolled lighting. But I've spent a good hour playing with the TV before paying for it and it's a step up over our 50C10 in terms of sharpness in 1080p videos. Other than that, I would still give the edge to the 50C10 in almost everything else. This is why I hope the 51F5000 will actually perform better at home where I can compare it directly to the 50C10.

But against all other TVs up until 50K Php (barring the P50X50/XT50S from Panasonic), the 51F5000 beats all of them by a mile in terms of PQ. Calibration and possibly some break-in is needed, but I believe that's a given already with plasmas.

It's not fair to compare plasmas vs LCD/LEDs in this regard. Plasmas are already given to be much better at handling lower quality sources. We played 720p videos on a more expensive 46" full HD Samsung LED TV and the macroblocking was simply ugly. You can imagine how worse it'll be if you played back 480p content. It simply doesn't look as good as it does on the 51F5000.

It is. I just said I paid it with my East West card in the previous page. Too bad today's the last day. So you either get it or you don't. I suggest you go for it. This is a steal.

i'm upgrading from a 5 year old Panasonic 42PV8 which is only 720p ... in my personal observation, the Samsung 51F5000 beats the old tv in every aspect in terms of picture quality ... i guess the other Panasonic models they are comparing it with are the higher models - it would probably be fair to compare those with the same model level

as for me, 30k+ 7-inch bigger screen and better picture quality than my Panasonic 42PV8 (which i bought for 60k 5 years ago), is a very good deal ... try watching BD or full-HD contents and all your worries about it's picture quality will be gone :)

As comparison witn Dymamic mode of Samsung 51F5000 vs Panasonic 42X30, super sunog yung sa Panasonic. Sa Samsung, its Dymanic mode is just right, not overly bright and saturated.

Pero sa Movie or Theater Mode, the Panasonic beats the Samsung by a MILE.

Pero syempre picture settings lang ito which can be customized at at desired settings

Thanks for this insight, Raptor!  Indeed, my TH-42C10S is one of the "lesser" models, which may explain why I was so impressed by the 51F500.  :)

i think medyo exaggerated naman yung comment na "hindi halos mapakinabangan" sa bright environment ... there's a setting on room environment, you can set the picture mode for bright room use ... my living room is well lit at wala namang problema, but a good proof are the displays on Abenson stores - their stores are commonly brightly lit (e.g. Avant in Greenbelt and Abensons in Glorietta), and you would still see the picture quality standout ... not unless you're using the tv outdoors, standard living room areas would likely be less brighter than the Abenson stores i mentioned

we set it to dynamic torch mode during daylight but its not good for a cheap plasma panel like these it shortens the life cycle besides a dynamic torch mode produces a very ugly image. hehehe..

I was at AVANT Abenson Trinoma last night to view and demo this unit...

Im not here to bash the owners of this TV... just want to share my observations...

IMHO, the PQ is not at par with my current Pana 42VT30 unit...   Tried playing some of their USB sourced movies at 1080P... BLACKS are simply dull and pale in comparison with the VT30 (kahit naka DYNAMIC na yung SAMMY)... malayo talaga and PQ ng SAMMY PLASMA vs PANA PLASMA...  Not sure if this can be remedied thru color adjustment....

The back panel is very basic...very few connections...

for first time PLASMA buyers (51inches@30K)... the TV unit is really a bargain.... You get the new "STANDARD" size plasma model...

But if you have tried and tested PANA Plasma PQ in DYNAMIC mode... The SAMMY PQ is really a disappointment...

I was planning to upgrade to a new 50 incher this year and got excited with previous posts about this SAMMY... But after you have gone PANA PLASMA... The PQ standards are very different and distinct... very difficult to change to a bigger size unit but with lower PQ quality (BLACK LEVELS)... :(

the Sammy is really a bargain at 30K for firstime buyers... But ill pass and probably look at other models in the market...

Thanks Guys...
it's not fair to compare the cheap 2013 sammy plasma to a high end 2011 plasma.

Siguro nga better to compare to the lower series of Panasonic para apples to apples and comparison. Although yung lower series kasi ng Panasonic, hindi 1080p e, so medyo mahirap icompare. Sa color output and contrast na lang siguro

At the end of the day, it's the value (cost + performance) of the unit that matters. Better compare 51F5000 to similarly priced full hd plasma of other brands, then that's a fair comparison.

Strongly agree... It's that insane mark down price and given performance
To be able to compare it to other brands/make you need to find something that will compete at that price range, specifications and performance.

Would it be fair to compare it with similar priced models from other brands without the markdown? Generally, even with discounts, the prices should not be too far.

The markdown is already a given. At that price point, it is fair to compare the unit with similarly priced plasmas of other brands. This is for those who are in the market to buy and not for those who just want endless comparisons with no intention of buying.

The problem is, the F5000 has zero competition in a very large price bracket. The next cheapest 1080p plasma starts at 53K Php, and that's the F5500, which is practically the F5000 with frame interpolation (like Panny's IFC and 120 Hz on LCDs), smart TV features and 3D.

The direct competition of this is (was) the Panasonic 50X50, SRP was 27K.

Pero para sa akin, super happy ako (yun ang mahalaga) sa 51" FullHD for only 30K.

I still have my Panasonic 42X30, nothing to say bad things about it, one of the cheapest 42 plasma but the quality is outstanding (same concept of the Samsung F5000, cheap but it doesnt perform cheap, gets?).

I just checked, my bad. No frame interpolation, though I swore I saw a table comparison and the F5500 supposedly had frame interpolation for the USDM variants.

Also, who's saying they have the same panel? No one.

in terms of specs, the real competition of the Samsung 51F5000 is the Panasonic 50S60 (Full HD, non-3D). sadly, it's not locally available.

hi everyone, im new here, i just had to check this with everyone who has this unit.
i also bought this TV last saturday at our local abenson branch here in naga & was also able to get the promo price for 30K+.
anyway, i noticed this just yesterday, and was wondering if it's a normal thing with plasma TVs.
there's a thin black line just below the TV border, it would appear above, right, left & below. but not all at the same time. and i tried turning the TV off & on again, and it would disappear, then i would check the TV a couple of minutes later, and it's there again. should i be concerned with this thin black line?
It's there on cable broadcast & HDD movies, even if it's 1080p.
Im thinking of having it exchanged as am still within the 7-day period.

here's the link to the photos, i can't seem to make an attachment to this forum.
