I tried another 2.5" external hard drive also on FAT32. Works on the F5000. The WD hard drive I first used probably has higher power requirements.

Another peeve I have with the F5000 is while it has PIP, I can't select the audio source. The HDMI is the audio source by default. What if I want to hear the news while playing my games?

Anyway, aside from that dead pixel problem (which the store says they'll replacement on Friday), the TV overall is better than our old Panasonic 50C10 for everything but cable TV. Black levels are surprisingly good. About as good as my friend's Panasonic 50G20 plasma if I remember correctly... and the screen itself is equally as glossy. No LED no matter the price can match these black levels, so I'm happy with that.

Is F5000 ARC-enabled thru HDMI? I believe it is not, so how can audio be sent to an av receiver?

Those high-end led panel has inky deep blacks than your F5000 plasma sir, like the sammy's F8000 or the sony's W904 kaso lang they uber expensive lol...

I can buy more than 10 of these 51F5000s for the price of one of those. lmao. Besides, one can just buy a Panasonic S60/ST60 for less than half the price and those things wouldn't even stand a chance in PQ. Personally, a 4K TV would be a better purchase at those prices, even with the lack of 4K sources.

Anyway, I found an awesome calibration setting for the F5000 here:

Good thing for the ISF-esque calibration settings available on the F5000.

panasonic st60 for a 65 incher is around 175k someone here pdvd A/V retailer sold that thing(brand new) here..so same price point sa mga high-end LED a 55 incher. lol..

it will output(optical out) dolby surround where the tv is receiving dolby signals coming from RF input other than that the tv's optical out will only pump out pcm stereo. 

I see... I'll try to play around with the settings in the receiver if I could increase the volume... like manually setting the input to PCM. Thanks!

Here are my observations with my upgrade. I just cited the advantages over the other.

Panasonic 42 PV7:
- Less reflective
- Better TV/Cable/Low quality source display
- Louder speakers
- More back panel connections

Samsung 51F5000:
- Sharper images (full HD)
- Size matters (50.7 inches!)
- Less motion blur (due to 600 sub-motion thingy?)
- Screen ~9 inches larger, but almost the same overall dimensions, and lighter by around 2kg than PV7
- Louder buzzing sound... but only noticeable when very very near

same here no buzzing sound even as near as a foot from the tv.
actually i was aware of this before my purchase from the comments i read from amazon.
but even on the display units at abensons i could not hear any buzzing sound.
so i figured maybe the ambient sound was noisier.
i checked for this again immediately after turning on the tv at our house - no buzzing sound.

so maybe i got lucky with my unit or i'm partially deaf hehehe.

I think I can hear some sort of flickering sound if I put my ear next to the panel.

The level varies from unit to unit and the audibility varies from person to person. Plasmas have a resonant circuit for energy recovery that often causes the buzzing (sometimes together with the drive circuit).

Some buzzing that's audible from a couple of feet away would likely be normal. If it's audible from your viewing spot, then that'd likely be a bigger problem.

Iyon kasing 3 terabyte na WD My Book Essential ko na formatted sa NTFS, nabasa niya ang unang partition na may 931 gig, 36 gig ang contents. I played a 6-gig 1080p movie from it, OK naman. Hindi nga lang lumabas ang 2nd and 3rd partitions.

Regarding brightness in a bright room...
Nasubok ko na since yesterday in the bedroom din
Matindi pa liwanag dito after lunch until late in the afternoon
Walang binatbat brightness sa living room

All I can say is, what issue with brightness?
I still have the cell light at less 13 sa lagay na yan
17 if I need to go very bright on movie mode
kayang kaya naman pala and no real concerns needed

Mas nakaktakot yung image burn in
Kapag tinakbo yung scrolling gray pattern kitang kita mo yung images na bumakat
Sa case ko yung HDMI 1 na symbol sa upper right corner of the screen
For one thing noticeable lang yung image burn in kung nasa scrolling gray option ako

Sa normal viewing hindi pa kita, trying to research kung kelan ang advisable frequency
sa pag run ng gray scroll screen at gano katagal

May gumamit na ba?

I suggest you leave your cell light to max. or 20 hindi na yata vivid ang image mo kung ganyan ka low ang light output ng panel. the ideal for light output for a plasma screen should be at least 30ft.-L.

By usb ko lang siya direcho saksak sa tv sir.

Just bought this yesterday.  Got it for 40k with 28" led tv.  Im planning to sell the free tv for 10k. Haha!!!.
Hope the Sky will install the cable tomorrow.
