Mga sirs, paano po ba pag test ng unit sa store?  I'll be bringing my laptop to test.

1. White screen/blue screen to test and look for dead pixels.
2. How to check the color band? (If applicable)
3. How to check the "on" hours of the unit?

Will be getting probably tomorrow. :-) Thanks

in my case I only bring my USB 2.0 loaded with big files movie with DTS decoded audio also w color pattern in 1080p format.

Ibig sabihin hindi pare-parehas ang behavior ng mga unit natin, or something wrong with it  :-\

Tested this unit earlier in Avant Trinoma.. I was looking for a TV that will replace my old Samsung 43D450 720p in order to maximize my next gen gaming (PC and PS4).. I felt like I was still playing with my Xbox 360 even at ultra high settings with my old tv..

I brought my PC with me and the first thing I noticed is that the texts are sharper when I set the resolution to 1080p compared to my old 720p plasma.. Well it should be because it has a native resolution of 1080p :)

I started to play COD Ghosts, NBA 2K14 and NFS Rivals with ultra high settings.. It's better than my old tv but only by a small margin.. Maybe it's just the settings? But it definitely is lacking the detail/sharpness that I was looking for.. I think the image is probably on the soft side? Correct me if I'm wrong.. but walang wow factor for me yung difference between this and my old tv..

When it comes to input lag.. I didn't notice anything.. I think it is at par or maybe better than my old plasma.. But I still have to turn on V Sync to eliminate vertical tearing... BTW.. OT, I also tested the 4k TV of sony just for fun with an SRP of 400k and I have to say that it sucks when it comes to input lag.. I literally have to wait for quarter of a second before it reacts to the buttons that I press.. but when I set it to game mode.. It improved a little bit :)

Anyway.. when it comes to movies... I tried playing The Avengers that's around 16gb.. not sure if it's enough to test the PQ but ayun..sad to say..wala parin wow factor for me.. It is definitely better than my old plasma but only by a little bit..I think the difference is negligible.. But there's a lot of factors to consider maybe the tv settings or the environment but at the end of the day.. Maybe it's just preference so I just let my eyes be the judge and went for an LED TV instead..

Was originally choosing between the LG 42LA6130/6200, PS514900 (3D features) and Qube 50QTV (HD-Smart). But after reading a lot (PDVD, Google) regarding this TV, napa-"impulse" buy na ko yesterday (before stocks run out). ;D

I have been an LCD/LED user ever since and this will be the first time I'll be using plasma. I admit that during the demo yesterday (demo unit was set to dynamic), medyo nanibago kami ni wifey in terms of the PQ. Nasanay kasi kami ng high contrast/brightness sa LED that's why when I compared it side by side with an LED using the same video, medyo mukhang dull yung (white) background. But one thing I noticed is that this TV had better sharpness, details, and motion rate compared to the LED. This I had to explain to wifey to convince her to allow me to purchase the unit. ::)

What concerns me now is the power consumption, esp. with the impending P3.00/Kwh increase by Meralco. I just hope that what's posted for the 51F5300 (US) "typical power consumption @ 78W" is true. Kakabili ko lang plasma, sabay taas ng Meralco rates, talk about timing. :o

BTW, I got the unit from Abenson's Calamba (WalterMart) for 30,997 (minus the freebie). And yes, they are offering a wall mount + installation for 998.00 (or was it 997.00). I'm just waiting for their delivery advise. Hoping this unit will serve us well. ;)

@Icermad,
The image is really soft compared to others models. But there is also the lights in Avant Trinoma that contributes to it. The image considerably grew sharper when we brought the TV home. There was less light and glare on where it is placed so the improvement was really noticeable. Wow factor is a different matter because for me, the price itself is the WOW factor because you get a very good TV at a very good price. Congratulations on your choice and hopefully all our units would be free of trouble in the years to come.

@Disturbed - Thank you sir!

@Gunslinger.. Yeah.. actually.. This is a really good price.. I was really excited to purchase this model.. That's why when I was waiting for them to process my payment..I saw this TV again playing The Impossible and I started to wonder if I really made the right choice.. hahaha :) When it comes to movies, plasma will still be better than LED TV's for me..

I think nobody is saying that LED/LCD TVs sucks in playing movies.
There are LED/LCD TVs that are near plasma PQ like my previous Toshiba XL700 series...
Most people lang here are impressed with Plasma PQ in movies ;)

Yeah ok din naman yung LCD/LED TV's for movies... I had an LCD TV dati and PQ is good as well and that was 2years ago but that TV was 3 years old na at that time kaya wala na yung mga new features ngayon... Now ko lang ulit mattry yung PQ ng LED TV for movies... And based on what I saw.. It's pretty good naman for movies :)

Not sure If accurate but sabi ng iba, yung PQ daw ng mga entry level plasmas comparable na sa high end LED TV's?

To each his own talaga when it comes to PQ. Other people might appreciate the natural hue of colors rendered in Plasma while others would prefer the vivid colors displayed in most LED TVs.

Tama yan sir.

Old LCDs looked terrible.  Pero yung mga bagong LED ngayon, malaki na ang improvement.  Side by side with a plasma, maganda rin ang LED.

Yes, mas maganda pa rin ang plasma sa cinematic look and more natural 24p motion, pero konting konti lang ang difference.  Halos pareho na.

Siguro sa dark room performance na lang talaga hindi matatalo ang plasma.

Yes sir, lalo na ngayon with the introduction of OLED displays... A true "LED" TV :)
I think the difference in PQ especially black levels will be very very close...

No, OLED is not a "true LED."  In fact, it's not even close.

LED is LCD.  OLED is not LCD.

No, OLED and LED black levels will not be close.  OLED black levels can produce zero luminance, and that's better than any other monitor ever made.  Better than any LCD/LED or plasma or CRT.

The LED TVs being referred today are just plain LCD screens with LED backlights...
LED TVs today are just misconception because they are not really LED screens.
True LED TV is NOT LCD...
OLED screens are True LED TVs because the panel itself is made of LED and not just LCD with LED backlights...

Decided to pull the plug just a while ago.  Its 30,997 here in Abensons Cebu without the free 23inch TV.  Damn low low price for a 51" Full HD plus for the first time here in Cebu, a deal is as good as in Manila so I dont have to pay for shipping & handling.  Cant wait to go home. hehehe

thanks sir raptor.  i brought my usb when testing and just using different solid colors to look for dead or irregular pixels.  also showed the salesman how to check the no. of hours of the panel. hehehe.

comment ko lang is medyo very flexible ung swivel stand niya. i might just put some 3/4 plywood at the back to stabilize the tv.  here in visayas, we are paranoid of the earthquake, baka mahulog ang tv. hehehe

I noticed mas sharp ang images pag laptop gamit ko source instead of USB..now I am curious..I'll try using the wdtv gen1 and xtreamer gen 1 in this display..try ko din hiram bd player hehe

Note that I applied the same calibration when using the USB and the HDMI as input..

This is exactly the first thing I noticed during setup of tv. Madali i-shake yung TV when connected to the stand compared to Panasonic plasma.
