Breaking Bad Spinoff Series Better Call Saul Confirmed

AMC and Sony Pictures Television confirmed today that they have reached a licensing agreement for a spinoff of Vince Gilligan’s landmark AMC/Sony Pictures Television series Breaking Bad. As conceived, the new series is based on the show’s popular Saul Goodman character with the working title Better Call Saul. Plans call for Saul to be a one-hour prequel that will focus on the evolution of the popular Saul Goodman character before he ever became Walter White’s lawyer.

AMC has renewed Better Call Saul with a second season of 13 episodes--and the first season hasn't even been aired yet. Set before the events of Breaking Bad, the series will premiere in early 2015.

Breaking Bad creator/showrunner Vince Gilligan is directing the pilot, and will act as showrunner along with Peter Gould, who created the character of Saul.

In addition to Bob Odenkirk as the lead, other series regulars are Jonathan Banks as Mike Erhmantraut, Michael McKean as Chuck, Rhea Seehorn as Kim, Patrick Fabian as Hamlin and Michael Mando as Nacho.

The series is set six years before Saul Goodman meets Walter White. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside and often against Jimmy is fixer Mike Erhmantraut. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in criminal lawyer. The series’ tone is dramatic, woven through with dark humor.

Better Call Saul is an upcoming American drama television series scheduled to premiere on AMC on February 8, 2015. The series was created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, and is a spin-off of Gilligan's Breaking Bad. Set in 2002, it focuses on the life of small-time lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) six years before his appearance on Breaking Bad, though events during and after the original series will also be explored.

Was finally able to catch the first 2 episodes. Loved it! Series caught up on Breaking Bad's finer points that made it what it was and they owned it. Looking forward to a great run.

This show is awesome. Same vein as BB but it can stand on its own. Mike and Tuco are back!. The break a leg scene was both funny and cringe worthy.
