thank you, i keep myself busy so that my brains remain active....
i have over 3500 tubes to play around with and not so much time...
i hope to make the most of the time i have left...

antique sound lab 6l6gc push-pull power amp monoblocks...
problem was red plating....converted to cathode resistor bias for trouble free operation from now on.....

the TV tube saga lives on......
new line amp comes to life, took me just 4 hours to conceptualize and build, a 6BC4 line amp...

these babies (tube) can still be had for a dollar each....
i attached the schematics for those want to build their own,,,
B+ of 120 to 150 volts will work here, can be regulated as you desire....
you can ask your favorite tech to make one for you....

initial testing is done by connecting the new amp in series with another line amp...

with Antique Sound lab 6L6GC pp monoblocks...

Why 6BC4? the answers are in the data sheets.....
transconductance of 10k umhos, and plate resistance of 4800 ohms
and mu of 48, figures that are very hard to ignore.....
try comparing these with the 12a^7 type tubes and get ready to get surprised........

and the best input coupling cap is.....no cap.....
installed additional 470 ufd/400 volt filter caps....

and very quiet too...he is replacing the volume pot to an Alps Blue velvet,,,,,another diy'er...
