Visited Sounds N Images yesterday so it looks like I will be adding 2 Richard Gray power conditioners plus extenders to the list of gear.

Where is Sounds N Images?

It's a pity, Ferdie is a really helpful guy & prompt. Got me some answers from the US within a few hours.

As a skeptic of exotic power leads I've done some intensive research today & given myself a headache looking at technical data & manufacturers claims. Lots of users say they hear differences when they've upgraded their leads so after looking at quite a few DIY projects I've decided to make a few to try. I'm hoping I will have to eat humble pie coz it will save me a fortune, at the last count I need 16. Unfortunately I won't be able use them for a while but at least I'll have some ready to try.
I will post a review.

Hi Doc, so very true but hopefully I can start working in a couple of months. BTW nice HT room, wouldn't be my choice of colours but wouldn't it be a boring world if everyone liked the same thing.

Hi Louie,

I've just read a couple of pages & it looks interesting, thanks for the thread. This build is probably way in excess of what I will be spending but I dare say I may pick up a few tips. I've noticed 2 similarities already apart from the room sizes which are similar.
 1) The front row will be dropped 12" - I am having my HT room floor 12" below the living room & will build the riser to meet that level.
2) He has made his stage 6" high - I have the same height.
As the thread is 325 pages long it's going to take some time to wade through it.

Hi Louie, just read the complete thread, very very interesting, also very expensive I should think. I have been toying with the idea of covering the walls with fabric but hadn't considered using acoustic treatment behind the fabric. Much food for thought, again thanks for the thread.
I'm not quite sure what I was thinking of when wrote 325 pages, must have been half asleep - 244 posts  doh !

Yeah I just realized too that the thread is only 8 pages ^-^
The acoustic treatment behind the fabric would help with room response and sound proofing...
You might want to consider also the material being used by "Erwin Allen" with his acoustic panels because it is health and eco friendly unlike rockwool and fiberglass... I think it is called Cellulose Fiber Insulator

Thanks for this Louie, I was going to post - help where can I get acousticly transparent material ? I was going to make my own panels but think I may have changed my mind also I now have a supplier of Green Glue. I will definitely be getting in touch with Erwin.

The sound proofing I don't have a problem with, as I'll be building a 100mm stud wall inside the outside wall it will be sealed with 1 layer of 12.5mm ply, Green Glue & 25mm Gypsum board. Haven't yet decided whether to use Rockwool or Fiberglass blanket as the soundproofing, maybe availability will decide this. I had thought of using a 100mm layer of open cell spray on foam type insulation but still undecided. I've read such a lot but still have a few ideas of my own that I would like to try, if I get it wrong it'll be another upgrade  >:D >:D >:D
Slowly getting it together, AVR's arrive tomorrow so that's another piece of the puzzle. I'm going to go now otherwise this will become 'War & Peace'

Oldboyracer,
I see that you have an Asustor NAS (AS 604T).  How's the overall performance as a media player/server?  I believe it has an HDMI out more of like a NAS+NMT player in one.

I'm eyeing on AS-302T which includes HDMI as well.  I'm thinking to have this setup instead of purchasing a separate NMT for my needs.  How's XBMC?

Hi rhizom3 I afraid I can't be of much help at the moment. I only purchased the AS 604T just prior to relocating here in April & it's still in storage. This is going to be my 1st foray into networking so bought all the gear & I'll have a play in about 4 months time when the house is completed. My choice was influenced by 1) ease of set up & 2) very user friendly.
