Thanks. Everything is fine, OBR. Praise God!  :)
Good thing Bantayan island wasnt direct path of Ruby.

Good to hear nolax,

Looking at the trajectory I wasn't sure if you would be in the damage envelope but glad all's OK.

Paid a visit to Ferdie at Sounds & Images today, had a listen to the new Accuphase A70 amp - impressive. Also auditioned some Wireworld XLR leads, being a bit of a skeptic about interconnects I was gobsmacked at the difference between 2 very close in the range. I ended up buying the Equinox 7 so I will have fun when I set up the audio system. As I have an XLR stuck in one of the amp inputs I've decided to leave it there & get another pair of leads hence the Equinox   ;D.

Just curious, did you recently plug the XLR on the amp or was it on the amp during long storage. If it was the latter, in likelihood the metals had galvanized. Practically welded by corrosion. If that is the case, the XLR will have to be sacrificed and peeled off. Major Dremel work. It might be easier to replace the jack from the amp.

Hi Gino, the amps (brand new) have been in storage for 11 months so decided to power up before the warranty ran out. The XLR was also brand new & came out of the 1st amp OK so I can only presume the locking mechanism is faulty on the amp. Cambridge Audio have advised it can be repaired under warranty or if I can get the connector out by destroying it they will authorise a replacement interconnect. As they cost me P7K a pair in the UK & I would have an odd one that is handy.
I've opened the amp up & it is a major operation to remove the connector from the circuit board. I think the favorite will be to carefully destroy the plug as the way I'm setting up the system the faulty input will not be used.

Acoustic panels now fitted to the front wall of the audio listening area.
I'm hanging the panels with Velcro.

Velcro pads stuck to the wall prior to panel fitment

Panels in position.

Any members hanging panels in the same way be warned that the wall pad may come away with the paint when the panel is removed. I used Bostik Rugby to stick the pads to the wall & in places my Latex paintwork lifted. I would recommend a layer of Gypsum board be added to the wall so the pads can also be stapled.

OK, here we go.

Hi Gino, yes things are moving. Veco's schedule is to have power available on Friday or before. 2 contractors were investigating at lunchtime so they are on the job  ;D Once the power is on my 1st job will be to complete the HT room. I removed the acoustic panels for some experimenting but ended up damaging some of the paintwork. The retouching has been done but I have 56 panels to put up, at least I'll have some air con. & lights while working, hopefully the audio system will be set up before Xmas. We've got the wife's parents arriving on Sunday so they can help house cleaning & unboxing leaving me to my toys  ;D ;D ;D

More grief, visited VECO this morning the excuse for the delay is now 'the contractor does not have the materials'. I am rather proud of myself, I kept my cool (not so the boss, she was very angry) & negotiated a temporary supply for Xmas. They will arrive tomorrow & install the meter at the same time but it may carry over to the 24th. It looks as though I've got a lot of work to do in the next 2 days, hopefully there will be some watching & listening over the holiday  ;D.

You're right Gino, everything was going along quite nicely until VECO cut our line to the neighbour, it's been all up hill since then. There will still be a fair bit of work for the architect to do but after the 24th I'll have to pay another months rent so going to suffer in the new house instead of in our rented accommodation   ;D.

A belated Merry Xmas to you all, things have been very hectic. Full power connection completed late on Wednesday, worked all through the night to be ready for the move to our new house. Moved Xmas Eve, no internet water & a few electrical problems appeared. Audio system up & running but the bad news is the 85" Panny has developed a fault, power indicator turns from green to red after the self check & gives 4 blinks then pause, this repeats. Haven't had much time to search but on other Panny's it appears to be a problem with the power board. I have only just got internet up & running so will be able to start searching.
Again hope you all had a good holiday  :)

Belated Merry Christmas OBR! I hope your TV will be repaired.  I also had the same problem with my LG plasma. I had the power board repaired everytime. I get to pay P6k-7k per repair. The 3rd time it gave up, they used the 110V line (as it is autovolt) and I never had a problem eversince.  I just need to have a step down transformer everytime.

Belated Merry Xmas Gino, the guys did well getting the power done - very happy. All I've got to do is get the Panny repaired + get the phone & internet put on, been let down badly with that but as you say should eventually work out.

Also a belated Merry Xmas Doc, I shall be contacting Panasonic to see if they have any repairers in Cebu - fingers crossed. In the mean time I have put the 50" Pioneer on the stage so we can still view films   :).
Thanks for the information, I have to wait & see what is recommended.
