Sir OBR perhaps a dehumidifier will help maintain the moisture inside the room and a UV light will kill mold spores. Both of which are available locally, though i am not sure on where to source. Perhaps Ace hardware will be a good start.

http://www.olx.ph/index.php/view+classifieds/id/65773273/Kolin+DeHumidifier+KDM-18?referralKeywords=dehumidifier&event=Search+Ranking,Position,1-1,1

Thanks for that berigin, I thought of running a dehumidifier but I have a dehumidifier setting on my Air Con so coupled with the fact that the mold hasn't returned after 2/3 weeks I will probably forget that idea. Using a UV light is hit & miss, it kills some spores quickly but others a lot slower & also depends on light intensity.
Thanx for the thought & your effort in posting help.

Sorry to hear about the tv. But good news it can be fixed. Just bite the bullet. Good to hear your room infection is controlled.

Thanx Gino, the question will be do I pay for the repair or go down the PJ route. I have a funny feeling this will be expensive but I've got everything crossed. Still waiting for the quotation, apparently the company's internet is down in Manila so may not get the cost till tomorrow morning. It's a bit ominous a power supply failing after approximately 2 months of use. The only good side is I can repair the boards & then have good spares, the down side to this is the manhandling of the screen & removal of the front speakers to make room. We had a casualty this morning, when we took the screen down (6 of us) one of the brackets came adrift & hit the center speaker & damaged one of the edges. It will not affect it's operation but aggravating all the same   >:( >:( >:(.

Do you use servo type voltage regulators?

Yes Nelson, one for the HT & one for the Audio system but they were not up & running when the display developed the fault. I may be suffering the after effects of some dodgy power but the problem happened after the new line was put in. I have been monitoring the supply & it's pretty stable so who knows. As Gino says I may have to bite the bullet & see what warranty I'll be given.

Screen update,

Still waiting for a quote for the 2 power boards that are needed. Due to upgrading their repairer cannot access the Panasonic system (or so they say). I've mailed Panasonic direct to see if they can speed things up.
The HT room is laying dormant at the moment giving me some time to clean & also please the boss doing odd jobs around the house  :)

Also gives you a lot of time to contemplate on getting a PJ. Speaking of which, I just remembered there's a Panny PJ for sale at the marketplace by courage. If just recently lowered his price. That would be a good opportunity to test a PJ without hurting your pocket.

You're absolutely right Nelson except it's giving me too much time to think about a PJ. If I have a power board failure after effectively 2 months use it doesn't bode well for the future. The cost of the repair will dictate whether or not I go down the PJ route now. I will check courage's PJ in the marketplace as I should hear within the next couple of days.

The quotation for the screen repair has come in at P66,150 - ouch, a very big ouch.
I have mailed Panasonic & questioned the reliability of their product, I wouldn't have expected it to fail with under 300 hours usage. Awaiting replies from them & their service centre.  :( >:( :( >:( :( >:(

Yes Nelson, Jason's panny PJ is about the same as the repair cost. Do I repair & sell on or do I put it on the scrap heap, that is the question. I'm waiting to see what answer I get from Panasonic  :-\ :-\ :-\

Good. Coming from a faulty tv, the last thing you want is a used unit with questionable warranty.

Whatever path you take, having a warranty will give you peace of mind for the duration of the warranty. Never mind how it will fair beyond that. Nobody really knows.

To be honest Gino I've never purchased used equipment for exactly the reasons you've stated. On the other hand I've quite a few people wanting to buy my equipment when I've upgraded. Even the deputy manager of the shop I used to buy from, I did ask the question why, he replied "your kit is always in pristine condition & you even keep the original boxes". That will change now as I do not have enough storage space  :)
I still haven't heard from Panasonic so the wait is on  :( :( :(

I have expressed my displeasure at the screen failing after around 300 hours use. I have explained that it has been in storage for around 20 months & I am hoping that there may be a little goodwill. I also asked a few questions that I would like answering before committing to the repair. There are only 2 screens of this type in Cebu , mine & the 103" big brother which is owned by an artist, you never know I may be lucky  ;)

Update :- After being told by the service center that the parts & repair have no warranty, also if the diagnosis is incorrect there is no refund on the parts & extra payment is required for further investigation + parts needed, I contacted Panasonic again. They have agreed to give a warranty if I go through with the repair & have also contacted Panasonic UK - I presume to see if they will honour the warranty although it has expired & the screen manufacturers to get all possible causes for the problem I have. If I opt for the repair delivery of parts is 60 - 90 days so the screen is going into storage again (in the HT room) & we'll be using the 50" Pioneer sitting on the stage until the situation is resolved. I have been investigating PJ's & screens just in case I need to go down this route. The Panny PT-AE8000 was tempting especially as the the price has been reduced by 25% until Feb. 2, unfortunately cash flow will not allow me to purchase at this time. I've also decided to go for a 2.35:1 screen it will also need to be acoustically transparent as the speakers will sit behind. I'm interested to see what the new DTS audio codec will turn out to be compared to the likes of Atmos & Auro 3D. If I go PJ I will probably incorporate the changes necessary for one of the new codecs, maybe 2015 will bring a major upgrade - a bit sooner than I expected   >:D

I agree Gino, the sensible part of me says cut my losses but I'm finding it hard to accept the loss of P2.3M worth of gear after very little use. It may come to that but I'll probably fight a little longer.
