Neo sent me a quote from FedEX for the duties/taxes at US$135.

So, total = US$185 (drivers & Shipping) + US$135 (duties and taxes) = US$320

Your comments please.......

Fedex, like any other brand name couriers have maximum customs duties applied. Can they use other means sending those?

The customs tax above is double of what i computed. My last shipment's final taxes via DHL from UK was spot on based on the online customs calculator I used. Don't prepay duties. pay them here.

Anyway it is what it is. When i bought my supertweeters i threw the word bargain and reasonable out the window. I never looked back.

I think as long as its in your personal baggage, that's would not be a problem cause it would be seen as personal effects.  The last time I was there, I bought several iFi Audio gears (about 4 cigarette packs size) and a headphone in its box, and no questions was asked.  Even got a tax rebate at the airport in singapore.

Correct, don't forget to drop by the kiosk at the airport for your GST refund  ;)

Mark was sending the Alpairs too but he said I better stick with the chr70 so I did. The key difference being the extensions of the highs but it was going nowhere useful to humans ears anyway so we decided to stick with the chr70 for the exercise.

Ang theory sa ultra high frequency is you may not hear it but the brain perceives it. It aids you yo locate the sound source. It suggests that it enhances your imaging.

I can relate to the theory because when I added supertweeters my experience was about presence and immediacy rather than the obvious metallic enhancements.

Sir Jojo, i was basing it from the feedback of MA users online. Some even say that the 7.3 is a real "audiophile" driver, for it's small size though it would require help from a sub. It's also one of the most recommended 4" driver (in diyaudio) enclosed in these boxes:

Pls take note that these enclosures would require some real estate, the base is 17" (for alpair 7 & chr-70) & are highly suggested to be placed a foot to 18" from the wall  ;)

^ ganda no? most likely real wood veneer on plywood, kita yung ply sa base...

yan din ang first choice ko sana for enclosure kaso it won't work sa paglalagyan ko, it will eat up a big chunk of the 20 sqm room. plus it is back firing.

That was actually the point of the whole study that we conducted. I'm not privy to post any numbers but the idea of doing the experiments was to evaluate the viability of the driver designs to extend well beyond ultrasonics since the application is intended more into full range drivers (may require subsonic reinforcement from a sub) and so the requirements for the driver design to go beyond human hearing was fundamental and finding if any driver re-design was needed.

I was so happy with the results because when it was all over, I told him that my actual application was to apply the chr70 as a super tweeter rather than a full range driver. MA's line of drivers are truly bang for the buck series for FR users.

Variety is always welcome and encouraged sir deist, especially on an economical point of view.

That is one helluva beauty!

jojo, interesting, but did you actually made a frequency scan of the program material and confirmed that it contained ultrasonics? :D if so what was the amplitude in relation with the audible program material....

tony, of course it wasn't measured with music (don't know anyone who does that :D), a function generator and an rta were used...

mind sharing some data?
rta's can measure frequency and amplitude contents of music right?
i am interested to know if there are music that actually contains
ultrasonics or even infrasonics....
or could the recording process clipped those?

Not only material but the media itself can limit the bandwidth. CDs and presumably their ripped counterparts have considerably less super highs than vinyl. Using supertweeters that go well beyond the source's content is a safer bet than a set that starts to roll off near that cliff. A headroom for super highs so to speak.

The same palpable experience can be said for subsonics. We can only hear so much lows. But we can literally feel its effects on our chests. There are lows that perhaps our brains perceive but our ears cannot. It adds to immediacy as well. A stronger presence. A sense of something being there.
