So Jojo ..... time to line up your MA project!  Enjoy the speaker while our ears are still 20/20.  Magtatampo si Mark Fenlon sa iyo niyan. Suggest the Pensil box para may bass na.

Was driving home today and the song "I'm All About That Bass" was playing on the radio... can't help but smile.

Well I still have to work some tweaks on my subs though to be more purist in sound.  Anyway,  most of the music out there are being taken cared of by the main MA speakers na.

SQ wise maraming tatalunin na mas mamahalin yang F.A.S.T. setup mo sir  O0

Sa dami ng pinadala niyo ni braders Cal and Donnel na gagawin eh malamang hanggang line up muna ang MA project ko huhuhu... Pero I'm very happy to have an extended listening time with your MAs, enough to answer and satisfy my personal questions.

Hindi naman matampuhin yan, antay ko MA woofers niya baka sakali pwede yun pang "technical" purposes. ;D

One thing I really liked with the MA drivers we tested was the way it presents the high frequencies. Extended and IMHO no need for a super tweeter, but most of all, the response complements the midband and low frequencies just right. It is there and I heard it, but it wasn't too exemplified to the point of being tiring to listen to.

Good job! Galing kasi ng gumawa ng box at kable eh... ;)

Hohohooooy! Sali ako diyan!

But it would be nice if there would be x-overs only for the bass driver and the HF/MF driver is left x-overless.

Brader Joey's set up is a perfect example of team effort, how many heads were involved? 4? 8 balls is better than 2.  Galing!

Siyempre naman! ;D

In fairness to the designer, I wouldn't preempt the applications just yet. Ninanamnam pa ang r&d eh. ;D

Kidding aside .... The lessons that I can share from the exercise are:

Apart from the excellent drivers of Mr Audio,
1.  use a box design that is properly designed and computed for the driver. use good box material with less resonance or add internal bracing to control box resonance as needed.
2.  study the stuffing and lining recommendations from the box designer.  learn from previous builders' experience
3.  use appropriate stuffing/lining materials
4.  the removable panel is a must for tuning the stuffing.  ensure the box is sealed at the driver and at the removable panel
5.  tune the speakers thru listening up to the recommended break-in process and period
6.  follow proper and recommended speaker placement in room for optimum adjustment in tuning
7.  last thing to do after tuning is completed and burn-in process is done,  is to apply cosmetics to the speaker for aesthetic purposes

Hope I have not forgotten anything......

These are nice!very good enclosure choice. Mahirap ba gawin sir? From the feedbacks I read, you might need to integrate subs for low freq support. Burn in for 100hrs and then go with normal listening level, but definitely sound will improve later on. We've heard sound refinement pa rin when our drivers reached 400hrs na.

That will still improve when you reach the 400 hours mark.  That is the time that the suspension system has settled in and you will notice that music flows easily out from the speaker and you will be realizing more gain.  With the broken-in suspension, the driver cone can move quickly and respond more efficiently with the incoming audio signal.  The bass will be more tight and tuneful after the break-in period.  For now, you can already enjoy whats coming out of the speaker.

Same case with my experience, I also enjoyed the speaker after 100 hours and was satisfied with the bass output.  It also depends on the music material you are playing.  Most music genres does not output 20hz. Only if you have music materials that needs 30-20hz output then that's the time you will be needing the support of a sub-woofer capable of such frequencies.

100% agree!

And to add: study the basics, the theory & principles if you are serious in pursuing the DIY route. learn to walk before you run ika nga. I realized now that this is a long journey and it's not a race  ;)

joesat, napalabas ko bass ng bookshelf ko by using rule of thirds speaker placement. If possible sa room mo, test the method.

If you don't already know, divide the length of the room into 3. At first division you lay the speakers. At 2nd division you put your head. Pero wag mo pugutin. Try to form an equilateral triangle. Wag lang sagad sa side walls.

I've tested this method in two rooms hear and I am very pleased.

Nice! mga nabasa kong feedback about that enclosure is mas maganda ang details compared to regular bass reflex box mainly because of the alignment & port design. Gaya ng sabi ni JoeyGS, hintay ka ng 400hours & definitely may improvement pa sa sound  ;)

Also, I would suggest to use good quality wires for internal cabinet cables, I was using braided CAT5e wires then switched to Cal's (Ctjader here in pdvd) & it made a big difference sa sound (mainly on highs). You can get from other sources naman baka isipin ng iba kinukulam ka namin :D our objective here is to share our experience with MA drivers & build  8)

Tama...

to add ......  do not make the distance to the sidewall and to the front wall equal.  Move along the one-third line in small increments until you get the best sound.  Tapos toe-in or toe-out as needed .... but mostly toe-in

The powers that be over there knew about my skepticism and usual "reservation" when it comes to feedback and recommendation. I've always maintained an it's a "YMMV" thing and "personal satisfaction" stance.

Sadly, my affiliation also limits my personal reactions and views. It's a price one pays when you are in the know and do not want to attract unnecessary attention that may cause unwanted (sometimes never ending) debates. Another "J" once told me, "who needs drama if the product is selling?".

In this case, and on a personal note, I am happy to have come last Sunday and was very satisfied overall.

Once again, congrats and a job well done to all involved in the project.

Cheers!

Very much YES brader... though these are my personal opinion, I can now safely conclude this drivers in their respective boxes are winners. They sure sound big for a relatively small package.

Last Sunday made me remember the height I experienced with them huge Lansing and JBL laden VOTT setups which to this day is a true keeper imho. Larry (camoteque) is a lucky guy who still has the chance to play with those.

Anyway, I'm keeping my MA drivers until that day when I can build a house with a dedicated audio room. ;)
