Joey, the plywood source said they have no plans at this time to import 3/4" plywood. Consider using what is available which is 1" thick.... Super solid and super heavy as well.
Doesn't really look bulky naman.... Eto sample cabinet for the boss, lalagyan ng server ng opis nila.

Blessing in disguise na yan, I vote for 1".

The MA community have tried and tested several types of wood and Birch ply provided the best results.

MDF is a good material, some say that it is more "dead" than any plywood but the problem is most MDF uses formaldehyde as a binding agent. Working with it, inhaling the dust and fumes is more hazardous than solid wood or ply.

MDF pwede din tukayo.

I know it's "denser" than any plywood but I didn't knew that it's a hazmat pala. :(

Birch plywood is best, per hirap kasi i-source e pati wala yatang 4'x8' size. For my enclosure, I used Sta. Clara marine plywood, which is being used for boats. It's so heavy/dense, I swear kasing bigat (if not, even heavier) than 4'x8' MDF. Di ako nagsisisi sa choice ko.

At least there is an alternative choice and good that you are happy with the results.

Hi RXV, that's a good alternative. I've heard of Santa Clara ply, madalas i-recommend ng mga boat makers yan.

Where did you buy yours & how much? TIA  :)

Used film faced plywood on my last build.
Even ang surface, very stiff, 13 ply , dense -no void, 18mm thk ^-^

^ That's nice, para ngang void free...Parehong sides ba film faced? I think it's called "phenolic plywood" here in PH.

Sta. Calara Plywood has a list of cerified sellers around Metro Manila. I had to get mine at Balintawak area pa. As far as I remember, Sta. Clara plywood is double the cost of regular plywood.

A wood-knock test on my enclosure proves its density/rigidity.

That is commonly used for making concrete forms.... They do not accept paint easily bec that is the nature of the laminate and the reason why it is used for the forms.

Sir, how did you apply wood glue to the adjoining areas kung may film na? Wood to wood kasi ang best adhesion di ba? Tinapyas mo pa ba ang film? or 45 degree cut? Or used another adhesive (construction adhesive, epoxy)?

A possible issue I see is with the reflective surface of the film/laminated face; if you are using it inside the speaker box, sound-waves will bounce back & forth.

The film is very thin, sanded [exposing the wood] the portion to be joined. Roughened the whole interior surface before application of lining. I'm experimenting only with different enclosures sizes & configuration. I work in a construction, have unlimited supplies of form plywood on site ;D.

If the film can be sanded down easily then that's good news! Thanks for the info bro.

I dont suggest lining the entire length of the box walls with foam, that will add mass to the internal volume and if the added mass wasnt taken into consideration when designing the box then it will alter the alignment, in other words mawawala sa tono ang kahon.

It might give an illusion of better bass but basically it's just bloated lows and at the expense of other frequency range mostly in mid highs to highs. Been there, done that  ;)
