I don't think so. Coach Ato has too much respect for Guiao who was his coach in the amateurs and then the PBA both with the RFM franchises.
Honestly I'd rather see Guiao face Cone in the Finals.

Pagdating sa Basketball talo-talo, look at the Teng Brothers.

Ginebra players, coaches stand behind LA Tenorio despite endgame lapses
Mikkel Bolante, InterAksyon.com · Saturday, February 8, 2014 · 7:49 pm

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel veteran guard LA Tenorio made some crucial lapses in Saturday’s Game Five loss against the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers in their PLDT Home DSL Philippine Cup semifinals matchup.

With Ginebra down by two with 13 seconds remaining, Tenorio missed a potential game-tying shot. San Mig Coffee guard Justin Melton gave the Gin Kings a chance when he missed one of his two free throw attempts on the other end, but Tenorio went for a layup instead of a three-pointer that could have sent the game to overtime.

But despite the lapses, the Gin Kings were quick to voice their support for their captain.

Chris Ellis, who led the team with 20 points in the game, said the team continued to trust in Tenorio despite the endgame mistakes.

“We all talked to him. We understand. He’s our captain. He’s more than capable of doing what he does,” Ellis said after the game.

“As a team, we don’t normally tear down anybody. We trust all his decisions. We go with what he does cause he’s our captain. Unfortunately, it didn’t go our way tonight. But we’re confident in everybody and we’ll bounce back next game.”

Ginebra coach Ato Agustin, too, said he didn’t give Tenorio a hard time after the game and merely asked about the play.

“(Tinanong ko) lang. ‘Bakit yun last shot ni-layup eh down by three?’ Wala na lang. Mag-do-down yan. Dapat i-lift namin yung morale ng mga players,” Agustin said.

The coach said that the team must instead just look ahead to the next game to try and come back.

“Nangyari na eh. Nangyari sa game. Kailangan bumawi kami.”

Cheato Salud.

http://www.spin.ph/sports/pba/news/yeng-guiao-on-one-game-suspension-parang-binigay-mo-na-sa-petron-ang-laro
Note: Yeng Guiao suspended and slapped a P100,000 fine for complaining about bad officiating ..... yet Alex Cabagnot who broke Jervy Cruz' nose wasn't fined at all?

http://www.spin.ph/sports/basketball/news/norman-black-fined-p30000-rant-officiating-talk-n-text-loss-quarterfinals-san-mig-coffee
Note: Norman Black fined P30,000 for complaining about bad officiating against TnT.

http://www.spin.ph/sports/basketball/news/abueva-dillinger-david-penalized-for-fracas-alaska-star-also-fined-for-flopping-v02
Note: Except for flopping, Abueva did nothing wrong here ..... yet was fined for P13,000.

Eto matindi ..... just a few weeks ago, Caguioa with an obvious MMA-style double hit on Abueva - no suspensions, just a fine of P5,000.

Caguioa wasn't even going for the ball, since the ball was way below Abueva's body.

Two things .......

1.) Yeng Guiao has always had major huevos (read: balls) ....... to hell with Comm. Cheato Salud's obviosuly biased leadership - I would have shown him the finger myself.

If Guiao wants BGK, it'll be because he believes fully in his ROS team ...... regardless of the huge stadium crowd against him - BGK it is.

2.) Yeng Guiao also has very valid reasons for picking BGK instead of SMC ....... you play against SMC and you play at an obvious disadvantage - the REFEREES will clearly go against you at crucial stages of the game.

EVERY PBA team, except for PETRON & BGK of course, has been jobbed by the referees bigtime, when they play against SMC ...... ever since drafting James Yap - its been an 8-man team for them playing on the floor.

Couple this with Tim Cone, who knows every trick in the book on how to work the refs, SMC will be the favorite if it'll be an ROS-SMC Finals.

I think for Coach Yeng to pick BGK over SMC is becoz he wants ROS to beat the crowd favorite.

Yup, similar as my 1st item bro.

Though, I wouldn't blame Guiao if he'll want BGK over SMC, just because of the officiating issues ....... just these past few conferences, the number of complaints against San Mig Coffee favoritism is astounding.

RoS-SMC or RoS-BGK, either way it will be a bruising Finals.

RoS best chance to win is if they play fast and shoot lights-out, like what they did in the PETRON series ...... like what Yeng Guiao said "leave no room for the refs to rob them".

Dami ding bad calls that were against Ginebra that could have cost them the game.
During the reply kitang kita yung braso ni Pingis na tinulak si Caguiao which made Simon wide open for the jump shot and was fouled by Slaughter... Ang dami pang ibang bigayan nang picks nang San Mig coffee na non calls which are mostly illegal picks...

Nice to see Jawo giving some pep talk ;D  For marketing reasons, maybe the Big J can come back as a coach next season?  His ability to motivate is without question.

As a fan of Ginebra back in the day, I'm sorry to the die hard fans but I seem to look at Rain or Shine as the team that carries the Ginebra's rugged and warrior attitude.  Parang tingin ko sa GBK ngayon naging glamor team while ROS now is made up of role players and bangers like Belga, Quinahan na parang sila Gonzalgo, Relosa nung araw.

My two cents lang ;D  No offense to the GBK fans now.

Spot on ...... indeed the Big J's drawing power is unparalelled, but he's long been gone.

Hindi uubra sa PBA ngayon yung mga full-court inbound pass (takbo!) and other styles of old.

For all of his motivational skills, Yeng Guiao's free-flowing offense actually involves a lot of pre-defined movement ...... every player knows where to position to get a good shoot e.g. LRodriguez on the sides, Jervy on mid-range, Tang coming off curls, Belga on top, Quinahan on top, etc.

=========================================================

You are correct, ROS clearly embodies the BGK warrior/ragtag spirit of old - and before that, it was Yeng Guiao's old RED BULL teams.

The answer is easy ...... SUPERSTAR = GLAMOR ...... no organization craves and hoards superstars, the way SMCorp has (PETRON, BGK & SMC).

Many diehard BGK acknowledge this ....... heck, just a few conferences ago PETRON fans petitioned then SMCorp boss Nolie Eala to stop with the never-ending trades.

Jawo, FTW !  :D

The way the referees are calling the games generally favor San Mig's style of play. The referees are (more not less) allowing bumping, grabbing and all types of contact which suits San Mig' rugged and physical defensive players, and they have a lot of them. As for Ginebra, they only have Reyes and Mamaril.
