Best home theater package for 30k
« on: Dec 22, 2013 at 02:14 AM »
I will be using it for ps4 gaming and watching movies on a 32 inch fhd tv. The room size is around 20 sq meters. I also have an ipad 4 so airplay or bluetooth streaming is a plus

What can you recommend? Thanks

Go for a 42" or 47" for that room size. Kung di ka maselang my view ok na kahit hindi smart tv ok na yun.

Go for an HTIB bundle ng display of meron,  pero when you start stepping up to dts master  hd and trueHD audio eh bumili ka na ng reciever and seperate speakers

Im agnostic sa presyo so ke preowned o bago pareho lang yan , nakatipid ka pa.

May mga HTiB bundle (the "big" htibs) na HD audio capable na siya.

When I was still starting with my HT setup about 5 years ago, I faced the same dillema.

I thought at first that HTIB(Home Theatre In-a-Box) packages are good because of convenience and price.
At that time Surround Bars are almost non-existent (or maybe very expensive).
The more I auditioned different setups (in malls, fellow pdvd members and stores) the more I was able to generalize that most HTIB setups do not sound good for their price. It's either they are cheap but has poor sound quality or has good sound quality but is also quite expensive. So I decided to try separates.

One fellow member advised me to get an entry level receiver and target 2.1 setup first then eventually complete the 5.1 setup as my budget grows along the way.
To cut the long story short, Here is what I came up for 30k budget:
1. Speakers - 1 pair Klipsch SB-2 Bookshelf(4K secondhand from Marketplace)
2. DTX 4.15 15" Subwoofer - 5.5K Groupbuy from Daiichi
3. Denon 1507 5.1 Receiver - 16K (Promo of Sights and Sounds at that time)
4. Pioneer DV600 DVD Player - 5K (Promo from Abenson Makati)
Total: 30.5K

Result: I was totally blown away! (at that time) No HTIB I have heard can match its sound quality at this price!

The only caveat is that it took me some time to complete this, since Im like an eagle here at the forum always waiting for the prey, that little timing and opportunity to get the right gear at great price!  ;D

Keywords(have a keen eye on these): promo, secondhand, groupbuy, members with upgradititis

For the technical terms you can't understand at the forum, Google is your friend. Goodluck on your hunt!  ;D

With too many options you could end up not choosing one

you can get either the Denon 1312XP or the Onkyo HTS-3500 for a 30k budget. these are HTIB's btw. I would get the Denon between these two since it has an active sub and a sub pre-out. ;)

I just bought the Denon AVR-X500 for Php 27k (cash) at Beyond Innovation SM Megamall.  Saw the same unit over at Listening in Style Shangri-La, but they were selling it at Php 29,990.  Actually, Beyond Innovation was also selling it at the same price (29.9k), but they had the receiver and the HT speakers in stock, so sa kanila na lang ako bumili.  Sa LIS kasi, display unit yung HT speakers na available nila, so I politely passed.

But my original choice was the Onkyo 5405 (Php 30.5k cash).  Better and more features than the Denon, but it was on per order basis sa LIS.  Tapos closed for inventory si Sights and Sounds (December 31).  Eh kating kati na ako to replace my Samsung HTZ-220, kaya I bought na lang the Denon X500, hehehe.

For those interested in the same Denon, I saw a set (receiver and speakers) at S&R for about 22+k...
