Synopsis:
Weaving together classic horror origin stories into a new adult drama, Penny Dreadful sees some of literature's most famously terrifying characters lurking in the darkest corners of Victorian London, including Dr. Frankenstein and his creature, Dorian Gray, and iconic figures from the novel Dracula.

Penny Dreadful was created by John Logan, who also serves as the series' executive producer along with Sam Mendes.

Cast includes Timothy Dalton, Eva Green, Josh Hartnett, Rory Kinnear, Helen McCrory, Billie Piper, Reeve Carney, Harry Treadaway

Wasn't impressed with the pilot with other series having the similar themes. Will wait for the coming episodes if this is worth viewing. Or maybe I'm just getting fed up with these "period" series.

You can also add Rory Kinnear to that list, as he played Bill Tanner in the last two Bond movies.

This week's episode was excellent, as the series continues to build up the backstories of its supporting characters. Is Josh Hartnett a werewolf? And it looks like the show is setting up Dracula as its Big Bad.

LOL bakit naman? Dorian Gray is a known hedonist and sybarite, so women--and men--are constantly attracted to him. I'm still not sure how he fits into our main characters' quest though.

I'm enjoying this series a lot; the writing, acting, and production values are superb; it's like a more menacing version of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (comics version, not the movie version), but with the characters having their own sinister agendas.

And good news: Penny Dreadful has been renewed for a second season with two additional episodes (total of 10, unlike 8 for the 1st season)

Yeah that ep4 ending scene was a bummer although I already had a feeling it was heading in that direction. Eva Green naman sana next episode.

If I'm not mistaken... Dorian Gray doesn't age... Looks-wise. He had this painting of himself which ages... While he retains his "good" looks.

I was shouting, "No, no, no!", during that last scene, though. Supremely disappointed in Cowboy.

ok lang yung scene na yun wag lang nila gawin palagi. hehe. the dorian gray character did not surprise me since thats what he is. but josh hartnett did.
