welcome ymeeh.. ako naman medyo takot ako bumili ng korean dvds sa website na wala masyadong posts ang members... been traumatized for so many times now... :'(

re price naman, i would always remember these lines from Schindler's List, the scene where Oskar (Schindler) is inside the church, closing a deal with a Jewish man:

--------------------------------

Man: Do you have any idea how much a shirt like this costs?

Oskar: Nice things cost money..

--------------------------------

Have you tried Mei-ah in Chinatown? You can order DVDs there. They have Korean titles. Haven't been there cause my friend buys for me.
A DVD like Musa costs around Php700. Some are cheaper.

But you need a translator. Finger pointing and gesturing can only do so much.

sir  El Zar,

thanks for the advice. i will try to visit the store. btw, i found out that Mei-ah is a name of distributing studio.  parehas kaya ito or it's just a name.

for this title (musa) selling at $23.00 at koreandvds, P700 is quite a catch... hmmm..

Sir Hemisphere, same lang yata ang Mei-ah store and distributor.
About your posted Musa DVD, it's probably more expensive because it's a special ed. There's even a cheaper Musa Mei-ah DVD but it lacks english subs ! But they're original, right ? Like local Hongkong releases of American movies you can find at HMV branches for 20 HK$?

sickmaggot,

If you're not particular about the disc being Korean made, I'm selling a Hong Kong version (original) DVD of Tale of Two Sisters for just P500. The video and sound quality is above average and merely lacks the 2nd disc of the Korean disc which is quite useless because the extras do not have English subtitles. Well, masmaganda lang nga talaga yung packaging ng Korean release.

I love Korean Films!  8) I didn't know there was actually a forum for this  :-*

My collection:
1.  The Isle
2.  Bad Guys
3.  Happy End
4.  Interview
5.  Motel Cactus
6.  Friend

I buy my discs as YesAsia which is a great site with good customer service.
I'm still trying out Koreandvds.com.

Question: At the Koreandvds.com site, it says that titles produced in Korean are under censorship which means that frontal nudity and scenes of violence are deleted.  I actually hesitate to buy korean films whose dvd versions are produced in korea.  Kim-kiduk's The Isle, for example, with its nudity, wouldn't pass Korean censorship.  I got my copy from YesAsia, produced by a HK company.

To the table or to bed, you must come when you are bid.

From the Asian DVD thread

Volcano High

Synopsis[/b]

When Kim Kyung-soo is thrown out from his eighth school for blasting a teacher with a super-energy filled piece of chalk (The beginning part of the movie), he promises his family to finally graduate and not get kicked out from school. However, the ninth school, Volcano High is his last resort. It's going to be a rough final year for Kyung-soo because Volcano High is a school that doesn't welcome newcomers. He will have to duck the leaders of the weightlifting team, kendo team, rugby team, judo team and of course, the school administration.

I. The Video

One word WOW to start!

Anyway the first disc which holds the film itself boasted its crisp ANAMORPHIC widescreen presentation. If it is MEGASTAR HK DVD got to say GET IT! they present the finest quality Asian DVD Video. A Flawless viewing satisfaction.

10/10

II. The Sound

With enough action packed in the film add it with a superb DTS korean soundtrack! Man.. It rock so hard that your neighbors will think they've just experienced an earthquake!

10/10

III. Special Features

Thats is why it was made as a double disc! The second is fully loaded with eye popping features! to be detailed here is the run down..

A. Synopsis
B. Film's Characters
C. 2 Volcano High Trailers
D. Volcano High Music Video
E. Deleted Scene
F. Story Board vs Final Version of the Film
G. Behind The Scenes
H. More Film Attractions
   - The Touch Asia Promo Tour (YES, with selectable subtitles)
   - The Touch
   - My Beautiful Girl Mari
   - Summer I Love You

So?? take ur time a lot are really in-stored!

10/10

IV. My short note

My question, Are you an ANIME fan? If so all the elements in watching an action fantasy anime is included in this Action Fantasy Korean flick. To Critics, nevermind the cheesy comedic showing just sit enjoy and have fun viewing it! The action sequences are out of this world. The closest comparison of such effects can come close to Shaolin Soccer with stunning CG effects mixed with gorgeous martial arts action and comedic approach.

The actual DVD comes with a carton slip cover and a double disc keep case.

Inserts are
1 HK Media Asia scratch raffle stub
4 Volcano High Trading Cards

I almost forgot.... Despite shown as Region3, the two DVDs were able to run in my Region1 Xbox Player!... Hooray!! could this be multi-region?

Excellent!

V. Overall Recommendation

Going straight to the bottomline: AQUIRE IT! The Whole Family will love it!

10/10

*Pls take note that the DVD I aquire was the HK Megastar Release

Pasali rin.

I'm a fan of Jeon Ji-Hyun and Song Hye Kyo, so it's more likely that the Korean movies that I'll buy stars them.

you're limiting yourself to Jeon Ji-Hyun and Song Hye Kyo films eh  :P  try the vengeance trilogy films (oldboy, sympathy for mr/lady vengeance). haven't watched any of it but surely in my buying list.

BTW Song Hye Kyo has only one movie yet, right? but many tv series. ubos pera mo niyan  :P

Si Song Hye Kyo kasi humatak sakin sa "Korean" telenovelas kaya na-appreciate ko ng todo. Then sumunod si Jeon Ji-Hyun. Gusto ko ring mapanood yung iba, kulang lang kasi sa pambili. Meron din kasi akong other hobby, which is gaming (PS2, GameCube, Xbox) kaya may kahati sa budget yung DVD buying ko. ;D

Yup, 1 pa lang movie ni Song Hye Kyo, yung My Girl & I. Yung TV series, at least 5. Butas talaga bulsa ko niyan. :(

OK sana yung April Snow kaso Tagalog-dubbed.

Maganda daw yung The City of Violence. Martial arts street brawl type. Nakakapagod daw panoorin ang fights because they're raw and you get the sense that the heroes are exhausted.
