What is the best blu ray player available in Manila and where can you find it? Are the Sony BDP-S790, Panasonic DMP-BDT500 or Pioneer BDP-51FD available here?

MA'AM MALOU: Why not consider the reference-grade OPPO BDP-103D DARBEE edition Blu-ray player? We have several units for sale at P32,900 (plus P400 in courier delivery). All the three models you've cited are not available on our shore, and on the event someone will sell you they're bound to be 110 volts. The Oppo's difference is that it has the Darbee Visual Presence video processing which lifts the picture to a superior level (even notches better than the standard Oppo 103 which has the Marvell video chip) and delivers superb sound. For the models you've cited, we have tested and owned the Sony 790 and while its picture is equally on par with the Oppo, it has a flimsy build, hit-or-miss reliability/durability and is not as versatile in accepting all kinds of media unlike the Oppo which is a certifiable universal transport. The Panasonic 500's picture is no different than its cheaper counterparts like the 210, 220, 230 and 330 and fares poorly in DVD upscaling, and its touted sonic edge may not even matched the Oppo's. We hope you'll consider our unit, its brand new, 220v, very durable and is not sold elsewhere in the land. Salamat po, ALICE GO #09202-833-970...

MA'AM, we also owned the third unit you cited - the Pioneer 151FD, this is an old player, released in 2008. Its made in Japan and so available only as a 110 volts unit and strictly Region 1, but the worst feature is that it won't play CDs, only BD and DVD. Sorry we can't sell it as its being used in our shop for years and despite its sluggard operation and other limitations, its DVD upscaling is superior, and it can be tweaked/calibrated to extract a better picture anytime. We hardly know any unit that combines good high-definition with superior DVD upscaling other than the 151FD. Thanks for listening to our hardware info. Alice Go...

sir, please refrain from selling in the discussion thread. you already have a thread at the market place. do your selling there, if you see someone is interested you can pm him or her directly to sell your items. no need to post in the discussion threads.
