i just download small files like the 3 plus gig. imo its no match to my blurays. yun lang ang comparison ko.

It's like you are comparing a mini against an SUV, then you claim that the former is no match with the latter.. ;D

Like I said, if you really want to know if there is any difference with the ones in the BD media and the other in another type of media. Use a valid copy, meaning same original source. Heck, the contents of those BDs also came from what? PC and the likes... ;D

You only see a difference(if there is really a noticeable difference) if you are comparing a BD against a compressed ripped copy. LIke in your case. ;)

Am not blessed with a golden eye & I don't have megabuck equipments. I own a few BDs. My collection though hasn't grown much for the last couple of years.

Saw some BD rips courtesy of my co-worker, MKV files he said. We watched Prometheus on a 32" LCD display. The file was processed by a Panasonic DMP BDT-110.

With all honesty, I was quite impressed with the PQ. It's way better than DVD. Now, will it look the same on a larger display, I don't know. To an untrained eye, the differences might not be that noticeable.

But being a dinosaur, it's still physical media for this old chap. My technical knowhow is simply below average.

Compared Frozen original Blu-ray disc and Frozen 1080p BDRip 7.1DTS (8gb size).. PQ on a 100 inch screen better for Blu-ray disc.  SQ on my 9.1 system better for the original Blu-ray version.  Dunno if Remux is same as the original as I haven't downloaded the remux version yet.

But for my wife, almost same lang daw..  ;D

I had nothing to DL yesterday when I came upon "Pretty In Pink". It was listed as 1080p so I downloaded it. After I got hold of the copy, I tried looking for it in Amazon and Blu-Ray.com. It is not yet released. Is this the trend I'm gonna expect in the coming months? Only Digital file but no Physical media?

Ang tanong kung san ang source nyan.. if 1080p then dapat ang source galing sa bluray media.. Kung galing dvd naman hanggang 720p lang..

It was listed as Web-dl.. I scan it now and PQ is way much better than dvd on a 40" screen. Dolby audio with english subtitle. The transfer is at par with most of the 80's movies that was released on BD.

IMO the best advantage of digital files is if you don't like the movie, delete.cheaper and doesn't consume a lot of living room real estate, too.

Umaabot ba ng 720p ang dvd? parang lower resolution pa ata.

Good question, especially now that we can purchase movies from Google Play. But where can we store those movies purchased from Google Play?

I am very happy with the catalog bluray releases so far. Recently, they released a few of my favorites like bachelor party and revenge of the nerds, to name a few. In a couple months kindergarten cop. Mga guilty pleasures ko hehe. For my wife naman bridges of Madison county and majority of the hugh grant films. I'm still waiting for one of my favorites, true lies.

I very much prefer physical Blu-rays as I like watching special features & extras. I think most digital files are only of the movie itself...

Good question, especially now that we can purchase movies from Google Play. But where can we store those movies purchased from Google Play?

I would like to add a couple of points:

Resolution
Depending on Google's licensing agreement with studios, some movies are formatted in standard definition only. I would not settle for this since I've been enjoying high definition for years now.

Price
I tried browsing some of the Google Play movies available and saw one has the option to own or rent them for a limited period of time. Depending on the title and the resolution or whether you prefer to rent or buy, the price ranges from P43 to P870. Sa BD na ako kung ganitong P870 ang presyo.

Most likely in the future physical copies will be pressed in limited quantities, it has begun na with a lot of new music releases na download only, plus Louie C.K. has proven its more lucrative to sell his shows directly via downloads at a low price that sooner or later a lot of media will be sold directly via digital distribution by film makers, authors, musicians etc

This year alone, as much as I'd like to have physical copies of my purchases, several books, music albums, videos etc that I purchased has no option for tangible copies, strictly download only

dapat pala ang thread title sir eh FREE PHYSICAL MEDIA vs  FREE DIGITAL FILES.... Klan nga ba mananalo ang binabayaran ksa sa libre mo lang na makukuha. so i assumed na when you ask to compare the two media, pareho mong binibili yung dalawa.

whether it's free or paid, i think that digital files are the way to go because of convenience in obtaining the files, and capability to play it on different media players ... you do not have to worry about damaging it or having a storage cabinet ... in terms of quality, it's really up for anyone to choose, so o don't think it's even a point of discussion - in the end, it boils down to the system you'll use to play it, yung merong setup ng high-end audio system and big projector screens would always enjoy the best picture and sound quality
