malabo na yang analysis na yan because of Wade.. if they need to stay & resign the Big3 unahin nilang kausapin si Wade otherwise.. they keen keep Lebron.

^that salary scenario takes into consideration both the Wade and Bosh opt out. I'm assuming that LBJ takes the max and Bosh/Wade takes a salary of 15M each. Hindi "malabo".

The fact that Haslem and Wade already opted out means that they were already guaranteed an extension by Riley. Bosh is soon to follow suit. It's almost a sure thing that that the big 3 will re-sign, they're just working out the details of the extension.

An example somewhat similar to Wade's scenario: Richard Jefferson opts out of his 15M player option to re-sign with the Spurs w/ a 39M/4 yr deal. Spurs avoid the luxury tax, RJ gets a longer deal.

Wade just opted out of a 42M/2 yr deal. He'll get re-signed to a longer deal while making less per year. Maybe something like 60M/4 yrs.

I hope they get someone who can mentor Randle to improve his right hand and his defense. I'd love to see him develop into a Karl Malone type on D. Quick, active hands with a knack for stealing the ball.

I saw a sequence of Randle trying to help a teammate on post D. He was going for a steal, but instead poked his teammate on the back.  :o

He definitely needs some mentoring on D.

haha that is terrible. He needs to be mentored talaga. Kahit yung simpleng mga pulling the chair post up D then  steal the ball pag off balance na. that was something Karl Malone did well.

Balita ko interesado si Zen at Pat kay Pau.. ayan ang kaabang abang din.  NY (Melo+Pua) or MIA (Lebron+Pau)

Read that too.  But NY can only offer Pau $4M.  If ganun rin lang, sign up with the Clippers for the MLE or stay with the Lakers for a bigger salary.  In both scenarios, he doesn't have to relocate.

With all this talk about free agency, no one is talking about Dwayne Wade. With his dismal performance in the finals, I don't know why he opted out of his contract.

Yup...NY is a longshot in signing Pau. Pau's sole problem the last two years is that the coaching staff deemed him virtually useless with the style of play that they imposed on the Lakers. Now that DAntoni is gone the promise of him being utilized to his strengths is clear. My bet is that Pau stays where he is in LA....Lakers or Clippers we won't know hehe

kaya nga, he is due 40+M in the next 2 years. sa tingin ba nya makakakuha pa sya ng ganung payout considering his health and recent performance.

unless he really wants to sacrifice so lebron will stay.

Realistic option ng Heat regarding salary

Here's a article that explains what the Heat can do and what we can do with our exceptions.

By Ira Winderman, South Florida Sun Sentinel
5:34 pm, June 29, 2014
By 5 p.m. Sunday, all the pieces had fallen into place for Part A of the Miami Heat's offseason overhaul, with the formal announcement of Chris Bosh's opt-out.

Now comes Part B of the process, which will reshape a roster beaten down by four consecutive trips to the NBA Finals and this month's collapse against the San Antonio Spurs that denied the Heat a third consecutive championship.

Prior to this rapid-fire round of opt-outs by the Heat's Big Three, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Bosh were positioned to account for just over $61 million of the Heat's 2014-15 payroll. Now, with contracts to be rewritten in coming days thanks to the concessions by the trio, that figure will move closer to $50 million.

While the concessions open the door for a single big-box signing by Pat Riley -- with New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony and Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry at the top of that group -- more likely is an approach to rebuild the championship depth the Heat carried in winning titles in 2012 and '13.

And that could have the Heat remaining over the salary cap but not nearly as deep into the luxury tax as in recent seasons.

A more holistic approach by Riley and his staff could involve utilizing three salary-cap exceptions instead of aggregating all remaining funds for a single addition in free agency.

By operating above the salary cap but under their previous luxury-tax heights, the Heat would have at their disposal:

-- A full mid-level salary-cap exception of $5.3 million to sign one or more free agents.

-- A trade exception left over from the Joel Anthony deal to the Boston Celtics that is worth $2.2 million to acquire a player in a trade.

-- A $2 million bi-annual exception that can be used once in a two-year period by a team operating below the salary cap.

In essence, the Heat's decision could come down to signing a single player in the $8 million range, or adding three (or more) new components with combined 2014-15 salaries in the $10 million range.

By utilizing cap exceptions instead of salary-cap space, it also would allow the Heat to utilize the "Bird Rights" component of the collective-bargaining agreement to re-work contracts for Chris Andersen and Ray Allen above the veteran-minimum scale, where the remainder of the players on the next season's roster otherwise likely would slot.

It could add up to a Heat spreadsheet that features:

-- James, Wade, Bosh and Udonis Haslem, all of whom exited their previous contracts over the past week, returning to new deals at somewhere in the combined range of $53 million for 2014-15.

-- A mid-level player added at $5.3 million (a wish list that might start with Pau Gasol or Trevor Ariza).

-- A player added at the bi-annual $2 million exception (a wish list that might start with Marvin Williams).

-- A player added via the $2.2 million trade exception (players on the current rookie scale fall into this area, but there also could be a sign-and-trade deal with a current free agent willing to play for such an amount).

-- Either Norris Cole at his $2 million 2014-15 salary, or a player acquired in a trade for Cole at a similar salary.

-- First-round pick Shabazz Napier, the point guard out of UConn who is slotted into a $1.03 million rookie-season salary for 2014-15.

That math would give the Heat nine players under contract at $67 million, with plenty of room under the projected $77 million 2014-15 luxury-tax threshold for remaining moves with the likes of Andersen, Allen and perhaps others from this past season's roster (under the collective-bargaining agreement, the Heat cannot re-acquire Mike Miller by any means until July 2015).

What it would add up to would be the type of depth the Heat lacked this past season for the games Wade missed due to his maintenance program, while also limiting the need for James to again lead the offense for extended minutes.

Because of the way the Heat have operated, Tuesday's start of free agency likely will include immediate pitches to the top of the free-agent class, basically with now-or-never offers below what such players could make in other situations.

What follows, however, could offer a truer read, the two, three or four pieces that once again complete the Heat, make the roster something far closer to whole than what was in place by the time the NBA Finals ended earlier this month.

Actually mas maganda sa Clippers compared to the Lakers by a long shot!  A great Coach in Doc Rivers who utilizes your strength.  A great PG in Chris Paul who enjoys passing the ball so you know you'll get your touches.  The main back up for both Griffin and Jordan.  So you still get your minutes either at center or PF.  Imagine Pau making lob passes to both Jordan (when he plays the 4) and Griffin (when he plays the 5).  You have a winning record.  You make the playoffs.  You're an annual title contender.  Best thing is you still live in your house!  No need to relocate.  It's actually close to perfection. ;D

And Griffin is quick enough and has decent ball handling skills to play the 3.  Makakasaksak ka pa ba sa 3 yan....well maybe baka kay Pau.   :D

Per the LA Times:

Quote
Gasol has said numerous times that his main priority is playing for a title-contending team. He will meet with Oklahoma City, Chicago and Golden State and might also sit down with the Lakers, the team that has employed him since acquiring him from Memphis in February 2008.

Jason Kidd to coach Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to send two second-round draft picks to the Brooklyn Nets to secure the coaching rights to Jason Kidd, sources tell ESPN.com.

The Bucks had been offering one second-round pick, but the Nets initially wanted a 2015 first-round pick in exchange, a negotiating chip the Bucks originally dismissed.

Hawks trade Lou Williams, Lucas Nogueira for John Salmons in a move to free up cap space

The Hawks and Raptors have reportedly agreed to the rare type of trade that appears to be fairly equal on both sides.

Atlanta gets John Salmons, who has a contract for $7 million next season that is only $1 million guaranteed if he is waived by Monday, which was obviously the plan all along.

Toronto gets Lou Williams and the rights to Lucas Nogueira, an intriguing seven-footer who was selected with the 16th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft.

It’s win-win because the Hawks will increase their cap space to around $15.5 million after waiving Salmons, which would allow them to add top talent through free agency, provided the team can convince anyone to sign there.

On the Raptors side, they get a nice young prospect in Nogueira, although one who hasn’t yet seemed all that interested in pursuing an NBA career, preferring to stay overseas instead.

Williams has been a backup guard whose production has declined in each of the last three seasons, though he’s proven serviceable at the position, and Toronto may have a need there depending on what happens with Kyle Lowry and Greivis Vasquez in free agency this summer.

From Ramona Shelbourne:

The Lakers had this idea where they could clear enough [cap] room where they could get [LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony] but then they’d only play for $16 million per year. I don’t think that was ever that realistic. Plus, Kobe [Bryant] was going to have to sell them [on the idea] and say, “It would be just like the Olympic team where I play defense and you guys be the stars.” [Kobe] actually did that. He actually did call both of them and talked to them about it but the sense I get is that neither of them are playing for $16 million each … I think all of this is just these guys having leverage. I think Melo goes back to New York and LeBron goes back to Miami.

Kobe should add that he would also pay both players 4 million each out of his own salary. that would seal the deal :-X

still salty about that huge deal Kobe got >:(

Said the same thing 6 days ago.

I read that after some maneuvering, Lakers can free up as much as $33 million in cap space.  So 1 max FA is possible.  But they are actually targeting Lebron and Anthony for $16.5 million each.  I don't know if that is enough to get both.

Now this is where the Lakers giving Kobe an extension of $48 million for 2 years are biting them in the butt.  If only the extension was for $16 million annually which is already generous enough given Kobe's age and injuries last season....Lakers actually have a strong chance getting both Anthony and Lebron to play for the Lakers at $20.5 million each.  I think $20 million can get it done.

^ yep. 16m is the best.

anyway, from a source:

Quote
-As far as why Melo would come here(LAKERS) when Chicago has Rose, Noah and Thibs , Houston has Dwight & Harden, and Dallas has Dirk and Cuban... The answer is Kobe. He's the reason. From what I understand, everybody including me blasts him for taking that cap killing contract. But in Kobe's eyes, he saw that even with him taking that much they'd still have room to squeeze in another max guy. Namely Carmelo. Bryant has loved the thought of playing with him, and the feeling is mutual. They respect each other greatly, and Kobe sees fire in Carmelo and wants him to go to battle with him.

-Now whether it would actually translate on court remains to be seen, as well as if Kobe can hold up physically at his current age. There's of course unknowns to it. But the basic want and willingness from the both of them is pretty strong. They think it can work, and Kobe has relayed that directly to Jim Buss, that I do know.

-Regarding cap money left over and so forth, I don't know that. I do know that if they can land Anthony they definitely want Pau back. Haven't heard about point guard options. But obviously this is the big thing they wanna clear first. And if by some chance they didn't get Carmelo, then fallback options would be put in motion.

-Sure things can change. Houston can wow him, Chicago can dazzle him, Dallas can promise him the moon. Hey people have a change of heart every now and again. But as of right now, this minute, I'm hearing Carmelo Anthony will almost certainly be a Laker.

man, im not sure I want Melo. Id rather wait for next  year's batch or 2016's FA batch.
