While looking at Leonard's stats, I just discovered that his 18PPG is the lowest scoring average for a Finals MVP since Magic Johnson had 16.2PPG in 1982.

Like the ball, playing time was spread around nicely for the SPURS.  ....... IMO that 18ppg clip of Leonard is just about enough to standout (moreso that Parker was surprisingly subpar).

Last summer, Melo had not yet opted out. Melo had not yet scheduled a meeting with the Lakers. On the other hand, the World Cup was already scheduled. So you can only plan ahead so much, unless by planning ahead, Mitch was supposed to tell Kobe not to have any plans in July on the off chance that LBJ, Melo etc would opt out and would schedule the meeting on July [x date].

Rockets, Mavs and even the Knicks were already preparing last summer to be big players in the FA market.  In the case of the Knicks, PhilJax was meeting with Melo way before he announced he would opt out.  Teams know who are potentially opting out and prepared accordingly.  But as late as January 2014, Kupchack already said they are simply not signing anyone to a big contract this summer and instead holding cap space for 2015.

July 1 was already set way ahead were FAs can negotiate with teams.  Anthony Opted out June 22.  Those are just the 2 dates to remember.  So you pretty much have an idea that as early as July 1 you set up a meet with Melo.

So June 22 pa lang you circle the July 1 date.

^^ therefore you are not a Lakers fans... KABOOM!!!!!

going back to king james :)

got this in other forum:

lebron to rejoin cavs-will-be-announced-on-his-web-site-before-he-leaves-for-world-cup

The Decision has been made, even though it hasn’t been made public by the man himself. LeBron James is returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers, a league source tells SheridanHoops.com.

James met with Miami Heat president Pat Riley on Wednesday in Las Vegas to deliver the news, and Riley did his best to try to get James to reconsider, comparing the stability of the Heat organization to the relative instability of the Cavs, who have a meddling owner and have changed general managers and coaches several times in the past few years, according to a source who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The meeting lasted about an hour, and James and his advisors then met for dinner. James’ stance did not change, according to the source, but no public pronouncements were made. An official announcement will eventually be made on www.lebronjames.com, as I first reported Tuesday. The news will become official before James leaves Saturday for the World Cup final in Brazil.

For Cleveland, this is one of the most important events in the city’s sports history. No pro team has won a title of any kind since the Browns won the NFL Championship in 1964, and now there is a distinct possibility that the 50-year drought can end. James will be joining a team led by Kyrie Irving, who just agreed to a five-year contract extension, along with Andrew Wiggins, the No. 1 pick in last month’s draft.

It is a young core that will grow older with James as their tutor and leader, and he returns to Cleveland as a grown man who has learned what it takes to win. The Cavs prepared for the move by dumping Jarrett Jack, Tyler Zeller, Sergei Karasev along with a 2016 first-round draft pick to clear $23 million in salary cap room (they received nothing else in return) — the surest sign of all that they are expecting James to return.

For Miami, it’ll be the end of an era — a four-year period in which a superteam was constructed and went to four straight NBA Finals.

Why is this happening? It comes down to LeBron building a legacy, which leads us to three points:

There is nothing left for him to accomplish in Miami. He went there for four years, he went to the NBA Finals all four years, and he won two titles while learning what it takes to be a champion. Nobody can ever take that away from him.

A chance to return home as a successful, seasoned adult with a chance to deliver the city of Cleveland its first championship since 1964 is too much of a legacy opportunity for James to pass up.

And another thing: With all due respect to Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade, the best player he has a chance to team up with is named Kyrie Irving.

Once James makes his intentions known publicly (and the same goes for Carmelo Anthony, who reportedly will stay with the New York Knicks), the free agency dam is going to burst.

Greg Monroe, Pau Gasol, Trevor Ariza, Luol Deng, Lance Stephenson. They are all going to lock up their deals in a very short span of time, and it is going to be madness. - See more at: http://prosportsdaily....l#sthash.o86UN1Wk.dpuf

I can't tell if it's good or bad that Lebron is going back to Cleveland.  But one thing, his legacy would take a hit.  I would think changing teams tarnishes a legacy or greatness though he is of course free to do so.

His legacy has already taken a hit when he went to Miami. Going back to Cleveland would be seen as correcting a wrong done.

Hehe Lakers fan eversince...minsan naasar lang ako kay Kobe ( Alpha attitude and now his huge contract) , he could have won more than three rings with his partnership with Shaq . Howard could have stayed also.

And Lebron going back to Cleveland will be a very nice story like Jordan unretiring in 1995

Pero iba pa rin yun prime years mo playing in just one city.  Sa mga all time greats, wala yata reigning MVP na lumipat ng ibang team.  Then lipat ulit in your prime pa rin even if you just came from the NBA Finals.  Wala ako maalala sa mga considered na Top 10 all time greats na ganun though.

pag nangyari yun i will probably rag on the Heat for half a season then I will probably forget that they exist. Parang yung sa Celtics in 2008 biglang sulputan mga mayayabang na Celtics fans. Nung nalugmok, I still lambasted them and then I just got tired beating a dead horse. haha

I don't know if I should laugh or I should scratch my head!   ;D :o :P ^-^ :o

Quote
Lakers’ pitch to Carmelo practically ignored Carmelo

And Lakers legend and Hall of Famer James Worthy, who was part of the Lakers contingent that met with Anthony last week in Los Angeles, said the goal of the meeting was to convince Anthony’s wife, La La Vazquez, of Hollywood’s merits.

“I told Carmelo, I said, ‘I wish your wife were here because she’s more popular than you in Los Angeles.’ We’re trying to recruit her, because if you can get La La, Carmelo has no say-so. So, we’re trying to get her to Hollywood.

“Hollywood is right here. She can do whatever she wants.”

LeBron James announces return to Cleveland Cavaliers

LeBron James is going back to Cleveland, agreeing join the Cavaliers franchise that drafted him in 2003, he announced in a story on Sports Illustrated.

Four years and three after The Decision aired, James is leaving the Miami Heat, choosing to join an up-and-coming Cleveland team rather than stick with the one that has been to the NBA Finals every year since he arrived.

------------

Oh man!  Kawawa na ang Heat!
