Will a Dolby Atmos receiver play a DTS soundtrack in Atmos format?
For example, if you have a BD of 300: Rise of an Empire, the only English track is in DTS HD MA:
Audio English: DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 (48kHz, 24-bit)
French: Dolby Digital 5.1 (448 kbps)
Spanish: Dolby Digital 5.1 (448 kbps)
Portuguese: Dolby Digital 5.1

Even if you can, I'm thinking the sound placements will be inaccurate, because the software will just be guessing the placements, unlike true Atmos metadata encoded on the BD, where coordinates are assigned to the sound at source.
Similar to a 2.0 source played back with multi-channel Dolby Pro-Logic IIx vs. a true Dolby 7.1 source played back as Dolby 7.1. The matrixed 2.0 sound can never be as good as the true discrete 7.1 sound.
So the best option would be to double dip on the same title when a new BD with true Dolby Atmos sound is released? Walang katapusang gastos yan.
