The stage is set for a DLSU vs Ateneo finals.
All Ateneo has to do is to beat UE/NU once in the semis and for DLSU, they beat up FEU again twice in the semis just like last season.

DLSU and FEU tied for 2nd and will play virtual best of 3.
ADMU will play NU or UE. UE only if it beats UST on Tuesday then beats NU in a playoff for the last final 4 slot.

you can issue a challenge in the last two minutes of the game. This has been done in the past by DLSU to gain time when there is no time out left for the team. Challenging 3 point shots even if it was clearly a 3 pt. shot.

I checked twitter for details.

According to FEU's letter, UAAP rules state that "Determining whether a shot is 2 or 3 points will be allowed by reviewing the tapes at the FIRST DEAD BALL OPPORTUNITY, timeout and before the end of the period concerned, as the case may be."

However, the review of Pessumal's shot was done with 27 seconds left even though the shot was taken several minutes prior. FEU then lists down four (4) prior dead ball opportunities before that happened.

So ang protest nila basically is that the Pessumal shot should have been reviewed on the first dead ball opportunity after the shot, and not with 27 seconds left in the game.

I don't know how Andy Jao will rule, but if everything in the FEU letter is true, then this protest seems legit.

Anyway, got the story that there was no mistake in Von's 3 point shot. Ref's called it a 3pt. shot, scorers just recorded it as a 2 point shot. Ateneo noticed the mistake and asked the score to reflect it.

Medyo malabo nga yung rule - prone to different interpretations. I think the phrase "before the end of the period concerned" applies only to contested buzzer-beaters or shots taken near/at the end of a period? But if the ref did call it a triple and it was the scorer who made the mistake in counting it only as two points, then end of story dapat. Naka-schedule na tentatively on Sunday yung playoff between FEU and DLSU.

the way the sentence was constructed. It's either the first deadball situation, timeout, AND before the end of the period concerned. any lawyer or who took up basic oblicon can say that you can raise it at the end of the period.

In any case,

checking the video at the 2:08 mark as Von takes the shot https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kiuq0w6gtXA

you can see that the ref #13 raises his hand to signify that a 3 point shot was being taken. His motion to fully signify the completion of the 3 by raising both hands is interrupted when Von bumps into him hard from behind while running back for defense. However, the ref had already signified the 3 pointer initially with his first motion so that should prove that it was the table officials who neglected to notice the 3-call due to the ref getting bumped.

Also, if you were at araneta "the review" lasted less than a minute. it wasn't really a video review rather it would prove that the scorer's table was mistaken in crediting it only a 2pt. shot instead of a 3pt. shot.

In any case, FEU BULOK! (sorry, had to let that out. this does not extend to the student and alumnus of the school. just with Montinola, et al. )

Coach Nash, after the loss: "We shot ourselves in the foot. We missed 19FTs buong game, we missed 11 in the 4th qtr so we can't really complain."

^ According to tweets, the UE-NU knockout game will be played on Saturday (Araneta), while the DLSU-FEU playoff game will be played on Sunday (MOA), both at 4PM. This assumes that the FEU protest is going to be denied. Still awaiting Andy Jao's decision, which will be given at halftime of the UP-Adamson game.
