^ According to tweets, the UE-NU knockout game will be played on Saturday (Araneta), while the DLSU-FEU playoff game will be played on Sunday (MOA), both at 4PM. This assumes that the FEU protest is going to be denied. Still awaiting Andy Jao's decision, which will be given at halftime of the UP-Adamson game.

Oh OK.  Thank you for correcting.

So now I will be forced to watch the UP Adamson game hahaha... suspense!!

^^ Di naman :) TJ  Manotoc daw will interview the Commish at halftime. Para may manood pa ng game kahit kalahati he he.. UP Fight!

Puro speculation pa lang na denied yung protest because of the schedule announced for the playoff games this weekend. Pero pwede pala mag rematch ang ADMU and FEU on Thursday or Friday, IF the protest is granted. >:D May appeal process pa yata 'to sa UAAP Board.

Oh well, UP gunning for a historical 2nd win in a long time is always exciting to watch anyway.

QUOTE
Racela had also questioned the timing of the correction, citing a rule that states that determining whether a shot is a two or three will be allowed by reviewing tapes "at the first dead ball opportunity, time out, and before the end of the period concerned, as the case may be."

In his reply, Jao said: "This rule shows that any correctible error can be corrected at these three periods of time where the opportunity may arise. It includes 'before the end of the period,' which is what happened in the game."

Jao disagreed with Racela's premise that the error should have been corrected in the first dead ball opportunity.

"By the rules, the other two instances are during a timeout and before the end of the game. That is what happened in the game," said the commissioner.
UNQUOTE

DLSU has used this rule to question Ravena's three 3pt. shots two years ago. there is precedence also. I don't know what the FEU team management have been smoking.

Also, as stated in the reply by the technical committee, it was the error of the scorer's table and not a "change" in call from 2 points to 3pts. it was clear that it was a 3pt. shot and two ref's called it a three. only the scorers table made the mistake.

Wow, I can't believe I enjoyed watching a UP Adamson match.  My son and I were both cheering for a UP win.  The last shot could have brought the house down and another bonfire to happen.  But hinde eh...

Anyway, it was an exciting game to end the eliminations. ;D

Ravena bags UAAP MVP award; Tolentino to be named ROY

 ;D ;D ;D

Pero wala na bang ibang mas deserving kay Arvin Tolentino? He was excellent in the 1st round, but was nowhere to be found in the 2nd round. Apparently, his 1st round play was enough to bag the ROY award.

NOTE: Kiefer's 77.64 SP is the highest in the league since James Yap won the award in 2003.

Coming in second is prince rivero but the difference in points is too great.

----------

Blue Eagles big man Arvin Tolentino will be crowned the men's basketball tournament Rookie of the Year after finishing with the highest statistical points (40.21) among freshmen.

Tolentino's college career got off to a resounding start as he compiled high-scoring performances in his first few games. Despite seeing his production lessen in the tournament's second round, the former San Beda Red Cub built enough of a threshold to win the ROY plum.

Tolentino finished the elimination round with averages of 8.0 PPG and 5.6 RPG.

Coming in second in the ROY race is La Salle's Prince Rivero, who finished with 28.5 SPs after averaging 4.6 PPG and 4.2 RPG.

The awards are expected to be handed out to the winners prior to game two of this season's finals. -

Arvin Tolentino - ROY of the 1st Round
Prince Rivero - ROY of the 2nd Round

It will be interesting to see how these two develop in several years. Baka King Eagle na sila ang King Archer respectively when they're both seniors.

Arvin Tolentino reportedly has some attitude problems.  Kaya if you noticed, there were instances sinisigawan ni Kiefer si Arvin.

Nakakalaban ko pa si Mark Molina sa ABL.  Sobrang gulang.   :D. Then FEU provided refs sa league kaya they tend to favor his team.

Mark Molina and Nash Racela are both from Ateneo.  Talk is that Mark is considered an ingrate and his batchmates and even his very own high school classmates disown him.

Nasanay siguro na siya ang bida. Yan na rin siguro ang dahilan kung bakit malamya ang laro niya nitong second round. Hindi sanay na role player, gusto bida. The earlier he gets over the disappointment of having to play second fiddle (to Ravena), third (to Newsome), or even fourth (to Elorde), the better it is for his game and for Ateneo.

These "attitude problems" are not confirmed, mere speculation from people who are not even part of the staff or management of the Blue Eagles.

Mark Molina and Nash Racela are both from Ateneo.  Talk is that Mark is considered an ingrate and his batchmates and even his very own high school classmates disown him.

That's unlikely.  If that were the case, Ritchie Ticzon would be "considered an ingrate" too, as they were classmates in HS I believe (4D '88 yata).
