Whew. Grabe kaba ko buong game. Nanginginig sa gigil. I gave up na nung naka 2 clutch 3s each si Racal and Cruz. Tapos surprise comeback ng Red Lions to get it to overtime. Too bad di nila binabantayan yung isang big man ng Letran who always got the good drop off passes from Cruz.

Congrats sa Letran. Well-deserved win.

Favorite chant ko during the game :

"Wag iboto! Wag iboto! Wag iboto!"

Saw a picture of Letran's bonfire. May tshirt ng San Beda and other San beda props. Thats just in poor taste, IMO. Sa 9bonfires na napuntahan ko sa San Beda, I dont remember any time na may sinunog sa San Beda na items from any of the schools that it bested. Not even from the hated Abueva-led San Sebastian team.

I read accounts too that even after the game, pinagmumura pa din players ng San Beda ng Letran crowd. I dont get the hatred even after the victory.

That is where I think the difference lies between schools. Quality of education , moral values & breeding.
Most especially ,Moral Values!!!

Wala na yatang ganyan ngayon kasi madali lang matrace yung culprits with the advent of phone cameras. Madali lang maging viral at kumalat sa social media.

Di naman sa pagiging sore loser yun. Tanggap naman ng community yung loss. In fact, madaming nag-acknowledge that Letran deserved it. The competition ended at the sound of the buzzer so I dont understand why they felt the need to burn San Beda shirts and props, and to shout invectives at players who were with their families.

Let's not pin the blame on schools when it comes to moral values.  I think that simply begins at home...

I agree.
I value & respect your opinion,
But sociologically, schools play a significant part on one,s value formation, just my humble opinion.

Congrats to letran.

Probably true before, but not so nowadays. True in the primary level but not so much in the secondary and tertiary levels. At the secondary and tertiary levels, some students' values may still be affected and influenced by the school, but for most students their values are already set. It's difficult to teach old dogs new tricks. It's difficult to mold a person's values once it has been set.

Your statements goes against your own handle/sig brader ........  ;D. Just kidding.

Indeed, it's hard to teach new tricks to an old dog.

However, I get what @choyb might be saying ...... IMO schools nowadays, moreso those that claim to be leaders of higher learning in our country, are negligent in teaching proper values and integrity to its students.

One example is the UAAP itself, with some schools using known CRONIES as their patron for their sports programs ...... we teach history to students, to show them the evils of our past - yet fully embrace those same evils in the present. Maling mali para sa akin.

I guess we differ only in the extent or degree of belief in our educational institutions' inculcation of moral values to students.

@choyb is much more idealistic, believing that schools can still change students' moral values even at the college level. This may still be true for some schools.

I, on the other hand, believe that even if schools make it part of their mission and vision to make moral beings out of their students, it would be too late at the college level if the student had not acquired proper values from his younger years.

And you, sir newwaveboy, believe that schools are negligent in teaching proper values and integrity to students.

Three different perspectives. All are equally true depending on the situation.  :)
