I have a first version WDTV Live, and it's getting a little long in the tooth. Can't seem to make it play bluray remux files (30 to 40 GB files).
It is networked (wired).
I play to a 1080p projector.
Main use: play my files from several NAS drives, and play it smoothly, with excellent quality.
With some files, I find my first-gen WDTV Live to play it a little grainy. Also, it refuses to play 40GB (blu ray remux) that are in my NAS drives. File too big?
I really don't mind getting the latest version of the WDTV Live if that is all I need. I also do not know if AC Ryan or Mede8er would play it with better quality? And play all my files smoothly (most of my other files are .mkv matroska files).
Suggestions?
(also, if just between the ACRyan and Mede8er, what are the pros and cons of each vis-a-vis each other? I looked at Popcorn Hour and it is a tad more expensive, though cost isn't really high on the list of priorities -- I mean, if you say it is worth 2X the price or whatever, but that it is worth it, I will take a long hard look at it).
Another requirement: kids and spouse must be able to use it easily (which is why I am shying away from the HTPC route).
