Celebrities Fashion Show tribute to our National Costumes Barong Tagalog and Baro't Saya

The fashion sense of Filipinos have greatly evolved through the years, largely as a result of media influence and the dictate of our tropical climate. Most Filipinos prefer formal outfits that are classy yet functional. this can be seen in the works of modern-day fashion designers featured in the fashion show “Night of the Stars: A Celebration of Philippine Barong and Filipiniana Dresses.”

The event to be held on Sept. 20 at the PICC in Pasay City is a showcase of the works of Shanon Pamaong, Edwin Uy, Albert Figueras, Simon Ariel Vasquez, Manny Halasan, Gary Roces and Renee Salud.

Their collections will be worn by professional models as well as celebrities Aljur Abrenica, Kylie Padilla, Arthur Solinap, Valeen Montenegro, RJ Padilla, Geoff Taylor, Johan Santos, Dianne Hernandez, Pat Fernandez, Arny Roque, April Tanueco, Katrina Medina, June Macasaet, and a lot more.

The event is organized by SIMEM International and NCCA (National Commission for Culture and the Arts) head. It stands for Sun Image Marketing and Events Management, a promotions company, as well as a group that specializes on image and personality development. It has chosen the fashion show that pays tribute to our national costumes—the Barong Tagalog for men and the Baro't Saya for women—as its first major venture. Proceeds will go to the Houses of Orphanage.
