tried a audioengine a5+ and audioengine As8 (35k) is their a better option? and do I need to pair it with a DAC or something? thanks

Here's mine. It's to inspire. It is not a recommendation. Those are old discontinued speakers. Excellent near field music listening. Struggles with deep artificial lows created by movies.

Mac Mini
JDS Labs Objective DAC (rca version)
APPJ EL84 SET tube amp (3.5W per ch)
Denon SCM51 bookshelf speakers (88db)
Wharfedale SW150 active subwoofer

You can also try q acoustics. Heard them and they're really good. If you want to go the DIY route, you may want to try the Speedsters. I plan to make a DIY speaker myself and the Speedsters are on my short list.
Getting to audiophile status, one small step at a time.

Thanks for replying.

Can you suggest me what to buy. Like what front speakers.  amp and sub to get for a budget of 35k to 50k?  Would be used mostly for movies played on my desktop pc. And some music around 70% movies and 30% music thanks

Audition the Audioengine at Dub Shop Timog. It may be good enough for you. Active speakers and subwoofer should be P37-38k. They can be bought separately so you can try the speakers first.

For serious audio listening, i'd go for:

1) JDS Labs Objective DAC rca (quartzacousic.com)

2) APPJ mini tube amp (ebay)

3) Fostex FE126EN 4" speaker drivers  (http://madisoundspeakerstore.com)

4) Bookshelf box for Fostex can be DIY, AAudio, or bought from ebay (a vendor from Maldova)

5) Wharfedale SW150 sub or Polk 10"er.

the Audioengine A5+ are good speakers. but skip the AS8 sub. there are plenty of better subs out there.

incidentally, my desktop speaker setup (Audioengine A2 + SVS SB1000) costs around 35k or your target setup budget.

regarding getting a DAC, it's not required but its highly recommended. if you really want to enjoy your music, get one! ;)

why don't you get a receiver instead. pair it with some good bookshelves and in the future if you want to go full 5.1 set up hindi ka na mahirapan.

You can check out Bose Companion 5 speaker system. It sells for around 24k sa S&R. Nice sound pero medyo malaki lang ang subwoofer.

You can see the specs at http://www.eleksis.com/companion_5.shtml

People in general recommend the PSB Image B6 for near-field. I havent used it for such application but I do use the Synchrony One B for my bedroom/PC setup. It sounds as smooth as a korean's thigh ;D ;D

I guess you can go with a 20k integrated amp of your choice, the PSB Image B6 (15k @ the MP), and a Wharfedale sub and you'd be within your 50k budget.

I've had huge success with Audioengines before. YOu might wanna pursue that too. The A5+ and an SVS sub is going to be a potent combination.

Or double your budget and go with a simplified system. Dynaudio Focus A110  >:D

start with the audioengine P4 paired w/ N22 amp also from audioengine. Very warm sounding.
