In the spirit of giving and camaraderie, I'd like to announce the final dates of the Home Theater Design workshop that Oto Ryu Home Cinema Designs will be sponsoring.

This workshop/seminar will be held on March 25, 2023 and April 1, 2023. Both are saturdays, in order to give our members here the chance to join even if they have work on weekdays.

What is this seminar all about and what will you get from this?

1. How to properly set-up and calibrate your home theater equipment the way true professionals do it.

the sellers will always tell you otherwise, but proper set-up (which is free) and calibration impacts your sound quality and consequently your home theater experience MORE than the price of your gear. What this means is that you'd ultimately be wasting your money on your home theater if you don't set it up properly.

2. Learn the basics of small room acoustics.

You will be learning the science of acoustics, how sound propagates in a room and how it interacts in a room - and how does this interaction ultimately affect the sound we hear in a room. As they say, knowledge is power. Until you truly understand what happens in your room, you'll never be able to tweak your system and make it reach its full potential.

3. Basic home theater design

In this section you will learn how scientifically designed and built home theaters are created from the ground up - and how to incorporate these timeless design principles into your own set-up. How do the studios create their mixing room? What are the existing standards and how do we integrate these standards into our home theaters so that it will sound as close as possible to the studios and therefore be able to translate the art of film making accurately when we watch it?

Full course outline here:

It's almost a cliche nowadays that anything expensive is better.
What with all the cheap China products that are equally cheap in quality, the ever popular, ridiculously expensive and exclusive premium brands that are "handmade quality", and mostly just old ways of thinking that are no longer relevant today - It seems almost automatic to think that if something is more expensive, then the quality is better.
But is it?
This conventional way of thinking is no more challenged than in the world of audio. The audio revolution brought about by modern scientific studies in the past decades has paved the way for breakthroughs that have completely changed the landscape of the audio world of the early 1900s.
Make no mistake, some myths are still out there, proliferated by those who profit from it. Peddlers who make a living out of snake oils and audio sorcery. 😆🤣
It has been our mission to spread the science of audio to as many enthusiasts as we can reach, so that we may all enjoy our set-ups in the best way possible - guided by the timeless and immutable principles of physics, acoustics and science. To spread the understanding that the biggest part of audio fidelity and realism has more to do with understanding its principles rather than the price of its gear.
And so one more step towards this mission, I would like to announce that Oto Ryu Home Cinema Designs will be holding a 2 part seminar and training that will focus on teaching enthusiasts - both hi-fi and home theater, the basic principles of design, lay-outing and setting up your equipment. This will be a practical workshop that is based on our modern understanding of the science of audio and home theater design.
We will be doing it over 2 weekends to allow all of you who work during weekdays a chance to join and learn.
What can you expect from this?
1. Proper Dolby Atmos lay-out and design - as based on Dolby studio specifications.
2. How to layout your soundstage properly whatever your room dimensions are.
3. Multiple row adjustments on lay-out.
4. Basic acoustics - how to understand your room and get it to sound the best it could be.
5. Calibrate your home theater set up like a pro.
And more! We will go all out with this, and hold back nothing on all info. See you here at Oto Ryu Home Cinema Designs!! Our space is limited so we will cater for 10-12 participants for now.
Oh yes, how much? 5k for non-members of this group and 2,500 for members.

Final dates are March 25 and April 1, 2023

Workshops will be 9AM to 5PM on both dates.
Registration: Php2,500 for members of this FB group, 5,000 for non-members.

Since our showroom is very small, we will only accommodate 10 participants. Only 4 slots are left.
