This preamp is based on a 5687 tube. I designed and built my own psu for this preamp and I'm a bit amazed with the response that tubes have on psu tweaks. Anyway, sound is very pleasant and not tiring to my ears.

wow... sir jojoD, it looks awesome... is it a combined tube rectifier with solid state? must be my eyes playing with me but i see only one tube... i imagine great things with this design, it costs only half for tube rolling!! and with the 2 large trannies i think this will sound great, too! pwede kaya natin ma-audition yan sir jojo?

It uses a solid state rectifier so no tube rectifier. The trafo on the left is the power trafo while the right one is a choke. I used both sides of the 5687 (dual triode) for stereo. The power trafo is so oversized so that I can play around other tube preamp designs without spending for another psu. You can surely audition the preamp, but after I'm done playing/tweaking with it. I am trying to document all my analysis for future references.

I haven't tried listening to prerotica on a gainclone. Surely the sound would improve.

In case you guys are wondering, the original prerotica preamp is still in service, it drives a P3A solid state power amp and is still stuck at a dear friend's system.

Darn, I miss that preamp.....

actually pre tatlo yun nadagdag na butas. yun una version ng prerotica 1 butas lang tapos na eh.
