amazon.co.jp
« on: Nov 20, 2004 at 10:10 AM »
Hope somebody can help.  There's this video (DVD) that I finally was able to locate.  Problem is that it is available only from Amazon Japan (the DVD is an old English movie, but released only in Japan).

I keep getting Japanese characters on the Amazon webpage despite the fact that I have clicked on the "Display in English" link.  How can I go about reading the page in plain English?

Anybody has experience ordering from Amazon.co.jp?  I feel like I'm in a "so near, yet so far" situation in the sense that I have finally ended my years-long search for a particular movie, yet I am finding difficulty in getting my hands on it. >:( :( ???

He'll be back on Dec 19 pa.

Just tell me if you still need help by then :)
I've been trying to justify you.
In the end I will just defy you.

sir.. i have ordered Kill Bill Vol 2 Boxset from amazon japan at 50% off and from what i have seen, the description cant  be translated to english and the majority of the text is still in english even if you choose to view the page in english (as an option)

however, during checkout you would be asked if you prefer to use english as the language mode. please choose this option. if still the japanese text appears, you may open your amazon US account and use it as basis/guide for checkout. Amazon uses the same checkout template for all their site.

you may also email them and receive a response in english via [email protected]

use the Y500 off coupon found in one of the threads posted here.

good luck..

Amazon.co.jp blocking Phil. IPs?
Has anyone been able to order from Amazon Japan lately? I was all set to order Howl's Moving Castle (R2 Japan, NTSC) which comes with English 5.1 audio and subs. Unfortunately, I kept on getting errors when trying to visit the site.

On a hunch, I used an anonymizer.com account to access the site and I was instantly brought to the front page. What gives? Have Philippine IPs been banned from Amazon Japan?

Could be an IP thing. When I got home the other night, I turned off my modem before dinner to force the system to change my IP address. Thirty minutes later, I tried again and Amazon Japan let me in.
