raw, high potential guy. Parang si Barnes din ba 'to? I always thought Barnes had tremendous potential. He still hasn't pieced it together yet though. I hope Looney somehow finds a way to tap into his potential.

Although:

According to a NBA executive, Kevon Looney was red-flagged with a degenerative back as well as a hip issue. May require surgery down road.

Good. It's becoming ridiculous already that they still somehow want another big man. haha

Just monitoring the picks online. Any info on Larry Nance, Jr. - other than who his father is? :)

The losers:

1. Boston – Paging Red Auerbach! We know the Celtics have a zillion No. 1 picks, including when they fleeced the Nets in the Paul Pierce-Kevin Garnett deal, among all the other trades that GM Danny Ainge has pulled off the last few years as he’s gone about rebuilding. But he’s got to start converting those into big-time players, and it seems as if the Celtics are stuck on drafting small guards. They did it again by taking Terry Rozier, the 6-2 Louisville guard who has been compared to the Suns’ Eric Bledsoe as a combo guard. Many scouts think using the No. 16 pick on Rozier was the biggest reach of the first round, until the Lakers took Larry Nance Jr., projected as no more than a second-round pick, at No. 27. That made no sense. Rozier joins a backcourt with plenty of under-sized guards, including Marcus Smart (listed liberally at 6-4), Isaiah Thomas and Avery Bradley. The Celtics are actively trying to trade Smart, their top pick from last season (6th pick overall) who is not a pure point, struggles with his shooting and has trouble keeping up with quicker opponents.

They're giving up on Smart already?  :-\

They probably haven't given up on him. Smart is Boston's most desirable trade asset, that's why he's actively part of trade proposals.

This was rumored earlier but it didn't push through.

Draft Grades

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2506389-2015-nba-draft-grades-full-team-by-team-report-cards/page/17

Drafting in the mid to late teens is not so cut and dry compared to a team who is actively tanking and selecting number 2 though.   ;D. They said the same thing about Avery Bradley. Funny mas mababa pa nga grade ng Celtics with Bradley at C-
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/411143-2010-nba-draft-team-by-team-draft-grades

But he turned out to be a decent starter.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1154595-re-evaluating-avery-bradley-as-a-draft-pick-was-he-the-biggest-steal

Bottomline is the Lakers picking number 2 are pressured to make the playoffs this year..... Or else it's the 3rd straight year being in the lottery.  For a Lakers fan yourself, you know that hasn't happened..... EVER! Unless they want to set another dubious record in franchise history.  ;D

ok lang yan....kahit mag miss pa ng playoffs next year...sa WC ba naman.   Its so stacked.    I have faith in Mitch Kupchak as a GM than Danny Ainge hehehe (the RJ Hunter pick is good though....swerte pa si Ainge di kinuha yung offer nya....6 future picks for the Charlotte pick).

"New salary cap projections sent out to NBA teams: 2015-16: 67.1 million, tax 81.6, 2016-17: 89 million, tax 108. 2017-18: 108M, 127M tax"

Bodes well for every team especially those who can afford it, and have financial flexibilty.

I like whats Kupchak is doing....Lakers were mediocre (Howard-Nash) then hopefully bottomed out last year.  They tanked but got the #2 pick.  They got Russell, Randle Clarkson as developing pieces, and hopefully a prized BIG MAN through free agency next week!!  Offseason of 2016  when Kobe's salary is off the books is when they will swing for the fences.

Exciting times Laker fans!!

Yun na nga masaklap eh.  Understandable if di makapasok sa playoffs kasi nasa West.  Kaso with a record of 21-61, fourth worst pa rin siya sa buong NBA.  ;D. There's no getting around that or spinning it.  Iba sana kung di makapasok sa playoffs then pag kinompare mo sana sa East, papasok na ng playoffs.  Eh hindi pa rin eh.  Ganun ka pitiful. :D. The whole argument...

".....sa WC ba naman.   Its so stacked."

Like I said eh di nasabi rin Golden State won because Cleveland played without Love, Irving and Varejao.

As for Kupchak versus Ainge....debatable.  Tipping point if he will sign Wade to a $20M contract.  Hahahaha!  And since when is tanking associated with the Lakers? First time ba bro? ;D

But it was clear they were tanking last year to get the protected pick which is now Russell. It was still part of Kupchak's plan  :)

You have to adjust to the times. The organization was in leadership transition & struggle (hello Jim Buss) Their gamble for Nash & Dwight didn't pay off, they traded a lot of picks for those 2, over the tax threshold to cap it all. Despite of all this, IMO Kupchak is doing the right thing with his recent decisions.

I did not say though Kupchak is doing poorly.  The issue was the comparison between Ainge and Kupchak. To which I answered.....debatable. ;D

Divergent Paths Have Celtics' Future Looking Brighter Than Lakers

If the Lakers' ultimate goal is return to championship contention in the next few years, those decisions could easily come back to haunt them. Failing to get any assets in return for Gasol, in particular, would be an egregious mistake.

Both franchises are sorting their way through the unpleasantness of transitioning eras. The Celtics are simply doing a far superior job compared to their rivals in Los Angeles.
