That 85 would look even sharper than a full hd 32.

In four years time or even prematurely earlier, deteriorated na ang LCD panel niyan....

Here’s the thing, though. While it is true that the 85Q900R’s native 8K pictures look an order of magnitude better than its upscaled 4K ones, those upscaled 4K pictures can in turn look better - than they look on native 4K TVs.

I call utter BS on this claim unless I see it with my own eyes. From experience, even the best 4k upscaler cannot do better than native Full HD sets using 1080p source. Mas maganda pa din tingnan ang 1080p movies sa Full HD tvs compared to 4k tvs upscaling the 1080p source so I really doubt this claim na mas maganda pa daw tingnan 4k upscaled on the 8k tv compared to an actual 4k tv.

Also, re: 8k, unless I'm getting a 100" tv and I will sit really close to it, there's no point to more pixels anymore. And I can only imagine the storage for 8k media. I have only around 100 4k movies stored on my HDD and it takes up around 3TB of space. So one would probably need at least 6tb of HDD space for 100 8k movie files.

I think the HDD tech needs to really speed up it's development. We will soon need 20TB HDDs for storage of larger files.

^meron na ata naglabas ng 100tb HDD.

Paano kaya streaming of 8k movies online?

Haha im down for 100tb hdds pag naging affordable. Lol!

Re: streaming

Kaya na yan ng 50mbps. Compressed naman pag streaming eh. Hehe

Pero pag 1:1 quality to 8k blu ray, yan ang mahirap kasi malaki bitrate nun sobra, I'm assuming.

Kakaupgrade ko lang sa 4k a couple of days ago......To be honest, I cannot distinguish yung difference between 1080p and 4K...maybe malabo na mata ko or hindi pa ganun kalaki yung TV ko(43 inches) para mag matter yung 4k.......

You should notice a difference in colors. Mas matingkad/saturated yung colors ng 4k. You will definitely notice the difference na pag between 8k and 1080p

yep, the screen plays a role as well. In my opinion, 1080p to 4k will really matter in tvs starting at 65". Maybe 55" din but for me, 65" is the baseline dapat for 4k.

Even at 65" pag medjo malayo ka, it's hard to tell between 1080p and 4k. Mapapansin mo lang siguro pag HDR na. Yun may difference talaga sa kulay.

I tried Guardian's of the Galaxy 2 1080p vs 4k. Slightly sharper and slightly more color variations lang difference na nakita ko when I really looked closely. Pero normal viewing distance, the difference was negligible. I'm no expert and I'm just basing this off from personal experience ha. hehe

Siguro magandang comparison is side by side watching of 1080p material displayed on 1080p TV vs 4K Marerial displayed on 4K TV

Just a thought...

some reports

The short answer is that a 4K TV could improve the picture a bit in the best cases -- but don't expect miracles. Most 4K TVs use a process called upconverting (or upscaling) to convert incoming sources to fit their 4K screens. Done right, it can add to the perceived detail of the image, but you'll have to look pretty hard, and sit pretty close, to see the difference.

grabe kung maging commercialized na 8K TV... i hope there will also be a new video codec and perhaps be around 16Bit - 24Bit. with the current H265 10-12Bit on existing Blurays sizing upto 100GB, for 8K there needs to be a 3-disc release then... at baka ibalik nila 3-disc or 5-disc changer sa blurayr player niyan LoL!  unless bluray becomes 400GB capacity na

with comparison on 1080p vs 4K materials (esp HDR), it's not only the brightness, color vibrancy but the textures and details are so much improved.  yung napapanuod mo na 1080p na di mapapansin, ma-appreciate niyo sa 4K HDR at mapapansin mo talaga na meron pala nun sa subject, scene or background or i.e. freckles, laugh lines, details ng damit akala mo plain white cotton yun para fur siya -- or something like those just to name a few =))

so how much more with 8K!

Not sure if its real 8K panel

this is kind of true. The farther you are, the less you'll appreciate the benefits of 4k.

Also, there was one study that I saw which showed that the human eyes will not be able to perceive the difference between 2k and 4k unless you truly zoom in on the pixels.

Haha

8K Blu-ray would probably come out by 2026 so I think that's the ideal time to buy a 8K TV.

Why 2026? Based on previous product cycles it takes about 1 decade before new media format is standardized.

Optical media timeline

* 2016 - Xbox One S with 4K Blu-ray (really wish PS4 Pro had it instead)
* 2016 - 4K Blu-ray
* 2007 - Playstation 3 with Blu-ray
* 2006 - Blu-ray
* 2004 - HDMI
* 2001 - Playstation 2 with DVD
* 1997 - DVD

I included video consoles as they help accelerate the adoption of a new media format as they tend to be cheaper than dedicated players at the time of introduction.

Now is the perfect time to buy a 4K TV whether it is OLED, QLED or LED.
