Need help in connecting pb1000 to htib....
« on: Jul 30, 2015 at 05:03 PM »
Hello guys.
im a new member here.

I already have a current htib setup in our living room, but since i am inspired upon browsing here..
I decided convert my small stock room to become a dedicted ht room.

Room dimension:
L- 3.40meters
w - 2.75meters
h - 2.80meters/9.2feet

Upon convertion, room area would be  9.35meter squared

1. Ano kayang magandang setup sa room?
7.1 or 5.1.2 or 5.1 considering the room is just small.
Capable ba ang room size an mag 7.1?

mag start to gather pa lang ako ng materials.
AVR would be coming from us para mura..
Speakers din siguro basta maliliit lang. kasya sa balikbayan box

2. Should i get the speaker from US too? or local na lang

3. anything else i need?

4. Please suggest AVR (willing to extend budget on this)

5.Makakaachive kaya ako ng magandang sorround sa liit ng room?
3 sides cement wall.  1 side wood..

I am really on a tight budget kaya mag start pa lang ako mag ipon.
Di naman sya priority.
Mauuna muna ang AVR na kuhanin ko from amazon US
Then piece by piece hanggang mabuo.

Target date would be december this year para mabuo. onti ontiin ko lang

Thanks very much in advance

sir you should give us your specific budget. small room setup will be applicable here considering that you   only have small room, and yes you could have a nice ht room even if it is small. indeed you can even save on wires and smaller speakers for this small room, including smaller sub.

the only cons for this small room is: you cannot appreciate dolby atmos setup. hehe. its too small. :)

You can start with a 5.1 or 5.2 ht system, you can always add speakers and/or a sub later for a 7.1 or 7.2 ht system. Go for the same speaker brand for timbre compatibility. Get a sub or 2 subs that can go low.

Suggested speakers and subs:

Salamat sir,, very detailed ang reply.
Posted na pala lahat :)
Hehe.. Malaking tulong talaga

I will consider smaller subs and speakers..
At least makatipid ako...

Not applicable ang atmos sir sa room area ko?
What if atmos ang avr ko?

Ilang inch subs ang recommended nyo.

Thanks @mbtorn

Would you recommend Pioneer vsx-1130k avr?

If yes eto muna mauna kong iparating... Together with 2 onkyo atmos enabled small speakers. Pang ceiling

How about polk audio speakers?
Ok na rin ba? (Will buy this locally)
Yong basic models lang ng speaker kasi maliit lang naman talaga ang room.
Pair of front speakers floorstanding
Pair of sourround speaker bookshelf and a center speaker
My setup would be 5.1.2...

Will still decide if sbs (masyadong mahal)
Or 10inch polk audio na rin na subs

Bago lang yan. Maayos ang pioneer. Been using pioneer since 2009, had 3 different models and very satisfied.

Update:

Just bought recently a used pb1000....
Naka stock lang muna.

Is there a way install my active subwoofer to htib?
Parang magiging 5.2 sya.

Htibs sub is passive, so the line is already amplified.
What gadget should i use to downgrade the amplification and get a parallel
Connection through the wire for an effective 5.2

Htib model lg bh9540tw

I think your SVS has line level inputs. Pwede mo connect dun.

Yes sir. I'm not familiar with that model pero most powered subs have line inputs. Can you post pictures of the sub amp?

You can connect the sub speaker level output from the HTIB to the High level input of the SVS.
This was what I was trying to explain last night. Now made easier with the image below.

THansk @cooltoyz

ito yong image ng back panel ng player/receiver

mukhang walang sub speaker level output from the HTIB
that's why im thinking about splicing..

iba din ang connectors nya
the receiver is actually 9.1 with up firing speaker

rear receiver is connected via wireless connection with separate amplfication of the rear speakers

nice meeting kagabi sir...

Sa speaker output, I think dun niyo kinakabit ang speakers ninyo including subwoofer. Kaso parang telephone or LAN connection ang ginamit. Kung dun nga nakakabit ang speakers and sub ninyo, kailangan pang i-trace which of the output wire ng sub woofer output ang (+) & (-), then connect to high level / speaker level input.

You can do any of the following

1. Splice the wire of the  "subwoofer"  of your HTIB, its the RED one. connect one end of the wire to the "subwoofer" wire. Connect the other end to the High Level speaker input of the subwoofer.

2. If you do not like to splice,  open the "subwoofer" by removing the speaker itself. You would need a screwdriver.  Connect a wire directly into the speaker terminals or the speaker driver.  Pass the other end of the wire sa port of your HTIB subwoofer and connect to the high level speaker input of the subwoofer.

@qguy  and @nelson

need ko talaga mag splice sa wire..
ayoko naman kalasin ang subwoofer

Subwooder passive line is only 2 (assuming positve and negative)

yong high level speaker input ng pb1000 is 4... (medyo nalilito pa ako)

subwoofer line is amplified

ok lang ba ikabit sa active subwoofer ang line?

Follow this ....

No issues sa active wire ng subwoofer.
Use either the left or right of the subwoofer speaker level inputs.

tama naman first reply doon sa thread, in fact it's the gist of what everyone else is saying here.

Quote
I don't see any reason that would not work. If I were you though I would take the sub woofer out wire from the receiver and make a "Y" . Basically splice the one wire into two so you can connect a split to each of your high level inputs (Red & Black screw terminals) on your sub. If you just connect one you will only be using half of the sub woofer's amplifier. It should totally work.

yung mga kumokontra doon nagmamagaling lang pero hindi naman talaga nakakaintindi.  :P

As to your planned setup huwag mo na i-split, you can just cut the wires near the passive sub then connect to the svs high level input. It would be simpler and sound better.

Just make sure to leave enough length of wire at the passive sub for future reconnection. Positive wire must be shorter by about an inch than the negative wire or vice versa, it doesn't really matter. Different cut length will serve two purposes: to minimize shorts and as guide for easier reconnection when needed.

Simple crude diagram
+ from amp -------------------- cut ---------- + passive sub
- from amp ---------- cut -------------------- - passive sub

then
+ from amp --------------------  svs high level input red
- from amp ----------  svs high level input black

Positive is usually the wire with stripe pero wala naman kaso kahit magkabaligtad kasi may phase control naman ang svs mo.

IMHO, I would not recommend removing the "subwoofer" of the HTIB, as it acts more of like a woofer rather than subwoofer, you would loose upper bass response

I don't think you would lose the upper bass response, kayang-kaya ng pb1000 yun with its 10" driver. Keeping the passive woofer (you're right q, htib's have woofers, those pathetic boxes cannot subwoof!) might present more problems with upper bass boom or cancellation.

Sabagay madali lang i-test which is better, just splice a length of wire para ikabit sa pb1000, then listen with and without the passive woofer.
