Netflix - Now in the Philippines!
« on: Aug 06, 2015 at 09:12 AM »
Just seems weird that we have an iFlix thread but no Netfilx ;D

Anyway, just want to share that I gained access using Unlocator.com. Basically, it changes your DNS settings to hide your location. (Doesn't work with mobile networks, ATM).

https://unlocator.com/

I'm currently subscribed to Netflix's 30-day trial and $8.99/mo for 2-devices+HD. so it comes to $8.99+$4.16 for a $13.15/mo subscription.

PS: If we have an existing thread, please merge.

Our plan is 10mbps but actual speed is 8.5mbps. Haven't tried streaming w/ 2 devices. Just got that plan kasi sa $7.99 na single device plan hindi HD and streaming.

i pay $7.99 for my netflix and $3.95 for getflix (to redirect dns).  i think it's in their tos that you're allowed to stream up to 2 devices simultaneously with the same ip.  although when my wife was working overseas for a couple of years we shared a single netflix account and sometimes watched at the same time.  for some reason my account never got suspended or banned.

i'm on 8mbps pldt mydsl and netflix hd and surround works well. i use 3 wd tv live players connected to different tv's in my house.

lately, it's like scraping at the bottom of the barrel looking for shows that's worth watching.  my 10yr old loves netflix though... lots of kids shows.

how are you able to view shows in HD sir? eto kasi plan sa netflix:

mas mura yung dns redirect service mo. ma-try nga yan pag natapos na trial ko sa unlocator.com.

i'm still under the old netflix agreement.  when i signed up a few years ago there was only a single option of $7.99/month, and it stays that way for 2 years from the time the increase and new plans started.

yep, getflix is one of the cheapest around.  sa unblockus ako dati for $4.99 until it stopped working and tech support couldn't find a fix.  i switched to getflix last november and still reliable so far.

there's a free way to mask dns. if you're using Chrome, just download the Hola extension in Chrome marketplace.

Netflix available 130+ countries

I wonder how this will compete with iFlix? No Asian shows? Sana wala din restrictions/difference between US and other regions.

I wish you could browse exactly which shows are available before starting the free trial. Is it exactly the same as the content in the US? Hard to say with their website.

The good news is that Netflix is here.

The bad news has been: pupugakpugak pa rin ang internet speed sa Pinas.

At the moment, it doesn't matter whether I'm on LTE or Platinum data plan. Napaka-backward ng sistema. Connected, pero walang data. Mistulang peak hours all the time. Bulok talaga!

My seamless Netflix experience in California and Florida (no infuriating lags and no endless buffering) will always be a benchmark in evaluating this Netflix PH.  I use T-Mobile to watch Netflix and when they advertise LTE data speeds you get truly convincing speeds for the money.

so effectively you can just set it default to US, without any issues? if that's the case ok. i'll start with their free trial ...

yes. I'm not sure though if you can access it without using a vpn or dns masking service. right now i'm using a dns masking service to access the US region. I want to know though if I can still access it without using one para i'll stop subscribing to unlocator.com at makabawas ng P200 sa bayarin monthly.

iFlix is a lot cheaper (109 vs. 370 a month for the cheapest Netflix plan) and offers more Asian and Filipino titles.

BTW, do you get more titles/TV seasons when you start paying?

How can you switch to Netflix US?

I think you will still need vpn to access other countries Netflix content. because when I was in Germany for a couple of months, when I access Netflix from there using my usa account, it automatically diverts you to the german site's contents, I have to activate vpn to get the usa content back.

btw, I use my ipad to access Netflix so vpn is free with onavo, although onavo is only useful if you are using usa sites unlike the paid once on a pc were you can choose any territory.

I expect the content would be different in the PH and USA, same as Spotify. USA would probably have additional content and some exclusives.

With the streaming based services coming to us, I just wish our internet speed could catch up, sadly i can't see a light at the end of the tunnel :(

Netflix is now available in the Philippines!

https://media.netflix.com/en/press-releases/netflix-is-now-available-around-the-world

It tested it a while ago. Impressive video and audio quality for streaming content.

I used Apple TV to play Netflix. Jessica Jones was streaming in HD and in 5.1 Audio!

Available na din sa PS4.

Your US based subscription works here . I just tried mine without a VPN connection and it now works... A few ago it would have reported an error .
