Newbie Here in Setting Up HT
« on: Aug 18, 2015 at 05:00 PM »
hello po mga sir/s. im planning to set up kasi ng HT system may nairecommend na sakin at eto po ung set up

5.1 HT Set up
Wharfedale 10.2 BS
Wharfedale 10 CS Center
Wharfedale 10 DFS (Surround)
Polk Audio PSW125 Sub
Yamaha RXV-375

2.1 HT Set up
Yamaha RXV-375
Wharfedale 10.2 BS
Polk Audio PSW125 Sub

gusto ko po kasi na same in quality in playing music and watching movies yung tipong akala mo nasa sinehan ka or kahit mas lamang ng konti ung movies. pwede din po kayo mag recommend ng any set up between 5.1 or 2.1 HT . small room lang ung pag ssetupan pero mas trip ko kasi ung feeling ko may sinehan ako sa bahay . my budget is around 40k-50k pero sa 2.1 muna ako magsisimula tapos upgrade na lang habang pinagiipunan pa ung ibang parts . salamat po mga sir/s.

Sir I have identical setup as above including subwoofer pero noon tinamaan ako ng upgradititis halos lahat napalitan.
Maganda na itong setup as starter but if I had my way, I would go for 2.1 setup muna na kasya sa budget mo na 50K for speakers alone. Tapos abang lang sa MP mga  pre-owned na AVR an magmatch sa 2.1 speaker system mo.

sir,ok na rin yan for starter or stop gap measure for a better setup.

pero weakness mo yung small center sa home theater. maliit yung 10cs, try 10cm. importante sa movie dialogue ang center speaker, the larger woofer, the better.

yung av receiver mo, entry level lang yan kaya mahina ang power and worsened by the fact that wharfedale speakers are hard to drive and has low sensitivity. in other words, you cannot get the full potential of the wharfedale speakers.

kung gusto mo naman mas murang good quality sub, try mo marco pilyo sub (12k pesos) with amp4v2 by marco pilyo sa pasay. as to LCR speakers, maganda rin yung anthony audio philippians set sa paranaque/makati cinema square (same price as wharfes).

sa music setup mo: yung 10.2 BS medyo ngongo ang sound (muddy sound) sa mga entry level receiver but excellent when driven by integrated amps.pag my additional budget ka na, try integrated amp for a separate music setup or a tube amp like Sakura amp (5k pesos) modified by rene rivo.

anyway, just enjoy this setup and never listen to other's better setup. otherwise, mapapa upgrade ka ng di oras.hehe  :)

If HT it should be at least 3.1. Center is very important.. Right now i moved my HT to a differnt location and tinamad ako ikabit ang surrounds so basically 3.1 ako... Upon calibrating everything ok na ok pa din ang 3.1 even without the surrounds..

What im saying, kung kulang ang budget and you want to set a starter HT, go at least 3.1. Saka ka na mag surrounds... Kaya naman ang 2.1 pero iba pa din pag may sariling speakers ang center..

Agree. The center speakers will be the main source for dialogue/voice. I can't imagine HT without the center speakers.

huwag madali bro. buo ka muna ng 3.1 or even a 2.1 setup that fits your budget. they are correct, look for a speaker model that has a good matching center channel then work your way around it. for the receiver, since it will eat a big chunk of your current budget, decide between a pre-owned or brand new . they will cost you about the same but their trade off will be between features vs. power. for me, i will rather choose a receiver with basic features but with more power.

good luck and update us about your setup.

ok sir thanks po . i'll go muna in 3.1 set up and do you have any suggestion or build of 3.1 with a budget of 30k to 40k and ipon mode para sa surround or i'll stick to 3.1 if maganda ang kinalabasan ng sounds . thanks po

sad to say sir, pero bitin kasi yang 30-40k budget mo for a nice 3.1 setup.

wala ka ba plano taasan budget? tutal di ka naman araw araw bibili, the home theater setup will take you years to enjoy lalo na yung mga speakers which can last you for more than ten years.

kasi, for a 3.1 home theater setup, you need the following:
   1. audio video receiver
   2. left and right speakers
   3. center speaker
   4. subwoofer
   5. wires and interconnects(though minimal lang price)

sir, with this budget, i suggest the following for a 3.1 home theater setup:

Pioneer 923 receiver-22k
wharfedale 121 bookshelf speakers-for left & right speakers=6.5k
wharfedale 101c speaker-for center speaker=6k
polk audio psw125-14k

total=48k. if you add another 121 bookshelf speakers-for surround=6.5k,total will be 55k for a 5.1 home theater setup.

mura pero maganda na tong ganitong setup. you can test this setup sa Listening Room sa SM Megamall or sa Listen Up sa glorietta, makati.

subwoofer puwede rin yung marco pilyo amp with amp4v2 (worth 12k). paassemble ka kay sir marco sa Pasay near LRT. though not recommended sa apartment or townhouse kc masyado malakas sa low frequency sound effects ng movies.pero ramdam mo yung bass bumayo.best for action/adventure movies.(of course not for porn, hehe)

hope this helps. :)

You should check out this package from Audio Excellence. I think the prices stated are SRP, so if you call them, they can offer a discount.

pwede mo naman babaan sa settings ng AVR mo yung gain/output level ng sub kung masyado malakas. calibrate mo muna before ka manood para pantay pantay ang volume/output level ng lahat ng channel.
