Ok lang ba for daily use ang 65inches say like watching local news and shows aside from HD from a content provider? Hindi ba malakas sa kuryente?

Not at all.

UHD TVs at that size are often rated at around 150W average (can go up or down largely depending on your backlight setting). FHD models are around 120W average. When calibrated at lower backlight levels, power consumption drops even more.

Here's what you can expect:

isa ba diyan backlit edgelit?
parang parehong panget yung sony compared sa va and oled ah?

ako din... concerned sa kuryente.. so alin ang matipid? led? va? ips? tama ba.. va and ips pareho led? or oled masmatipid?
hehe

The X850D and the VA example are edgelit. The X750D is backlit. OLEDs light themselves up, so they don't need a light source.

Yes, Sony has moved to a lot of IPS panels since they switched away from Samsung as a panel supplier (end of 2011). They still have VA panels for certain models (flagship models and odd sizes). IPS panels boast wide viewing angles but are typically inferior in contrast.

Quantum Dot LED lighting is the trend on higher end non-OLED TVs. They typically offer a wider color gamut and a higher peak intensity when compared to phosphor-based backlights. This is especially useful for HDR content.

HDR10 is the dominant HDR standard for video. Video content is moving toward the HDR and Deep Color direction, offering increased contrast levels, a wider color gamut , and more displayable colors. This essentially eliminates visible banding and can be closer to real life in contrast and color.

As for local dimming, both Sony TVs indicated do not have local dimming.

For power consumption, there is not much difference between VA and IPS. Both are more efficient than OLED when displaying bright images, while OLED is more efficient when displaying dark images.

The Samsung KS9800 is the current favorite for Hollywood-standard HDR displays. It is often used for mastering HDR10 videos, as it meets the peak intensity numbers set by the standard. Though OLED TVs offer spectacular contrast, none of them can hit 1000 nits at this point.

Sony is preparing their upcoming ZD9 lineup to displace the KS9800.

ang masakit buying something branded.. and supposedly will last long tapos... masisira right after warranty period :(

thank you sir stagea for detailed explanation...

i use to have an s3.. 720p... @ 4.7" hindi ko na makita pixels...
now mga latest phones... puros over 1080p to 4k... hayy ang bibilis maubos ng battery.. drain! hehe

You're welcome, sir. May advantages and disadvantages siya. Never ako naging fan ng IPS on TVs dahil sa contrast issues, though nag-iimprove na yung contrast ng higher-end IPS panels ng LG and AUO.

High-end VA TVs approach 7000:1 static contrast ratios before local dimming is applied. High-end IPS TVs don't even reach 1300:1 without local dimming. Pansin agad siya under controlled lighting dahil cloudy grey ang blacks ng most IPS panels.

yikes matakaw pala dream tv ko.. hehe

Not that much naman, sir. Efficiency is still a lot better than the plasma screens of yore, and it should just get better over time.

napansin ko lang sir... kung saan pinaka importante ang powersaving.. sa phone.. nainis ako bakit naglalabanan sila ng pixels... nalaman ko nung huli.. matakaw pala sa battery yun and sa graphics processing.. pero to be honest... di ko naman makita difference...

Yes, parang sa PC din yan na you need a more powerful GPU to render in high resolution. So aside from the reduced transmittance nung panel (thus requiring a brighter backlight) at higher consumption nung panel mismo, malaki din effect sa processing side power consumption.

This is why the Xperia Z5 rendered most things in 1080p or 720p maski na UHD yung panel (the image just gets scaled up to 2160p). Hindi kaya nung SoC nya to handle that resolution comfortably.

i use to have an s3.. 720p... @ 4.7" hindi ko na makita pixels...
now mga latest phones... puros over 1080p to 4k... hayy ang bibilis maubos ng battery.. drain! hehe

If only they can fit larger batteries no? Ang problem is most people prefer slim phones kaya ganun ang current products.

QHD yan or 1440P most likely.

S5 LTE-A, S6, S6 Edge, S7, S7 Edge, Note 4, Note 5, and Note 7 gamit lahat 1440P screen.

personal preference ko parin ang LG when it comes to TV...  I checked Sammy & Sony too, but I'm reluctant with them as I'm really an LG fan.

absent OLED due it is still in high price range, I would opt for LG **UH7700 -- Smart, HDR10 + Dolby Vision, Quantum IPS (but not Quantum Dot), non-3D).  to add the 3D feature, would opt for LG **UH8500 series.  this is flat LED, not curved.

I only asked for the price of LG 49UH7700 which is lowest P45,000 at Ans*ns C&C.

should I proceed now or wait a little while for price to go down further?  my LG 42LM6200 3D LED is still working perfectly.

TIA!

For me, coming from a 42 to a 49 is not worth doing especially if the old one is still working ok. My upgrade path would be a minimum of 55 inches, otherwise, I will just keep the money.

thanks for the input, sir.  that's being considered as well.

but I have concerns with our limited space -- viewing distance cannot go further than 8ft. for the new TV.  and it would be used as well by my children.  I worry about larger real estate TV's might damage my/their vision.

as for the working 42", I'll transfer it to our bedroom with viewing distance cannot go further 6ft.

i'll save my cash for now and wait if it could get a better discount/deal =))

any other inputs, please?  TIA!

they don't normally mention until when is their offered lower price.. so it goes back higher.

according to the online agent on OLX (Ans*n's C&C), when items are moving fast/on high demand, they raise their prices and then lowers the other items for them to move...  it's a cycle.

so wait for a while until their prices gets lowered again when they feel certain items aren't moving due to the raised price.
